Panch 10m blaze

snowspider - 20-6-2011 at 09:03 AM

I have an older 10m blaze that I wanted to reduce the lift on and also reduce the frequency/propencity for the wing tips to tuck under.
After 3 unsuccessfull alterations I found a noticable improvment with the wing tuck issue by lengthening the outside bridal group. I did this by adding a 3 inches to the bridal line where it joins the main power line.
With this change the kite flys closer to the edge of the window without folding and it gives earlier warning that its getting loose/sloppy. The fold under is more hessitant and I can bring it thru a turn without it totaly folding. I am going to add some length to the shortest outside lines to see if the further improves things.
I also put on my Peter Lynn handles which are longer and was able to get much better turning speed and brake.
I'm not convinced one other change I made did any thing to reduce lift. I may have to settle for faster turns and more stability.

As always I found information I need after the fact. Found the exact modifications I'm working with. I'm really surprized at the length of the adjustments that can be made. Will be letting it out more untill I find the sweet spot. http://www.powerkiters.co.uk/g2/d/18193-1/shrimpansh.pdf

Patty, I thought the larger blazes were all depower. Or is that only the blaze II ?

the Blaze II's are depower , the plane old Blaze is just a big fixed bridal beast. Its a bit of a handful at times but so far I've been able to rein it in when nessesary and bring it down when it gets ugly. It scares me a little bit but I'm starting to like it!

Does anyone have a copy of the shrimpansh pdf? All of the places it used to be posted seem to have gone down and googleling hasn't gotten me very far.
