Ground Industries Patrol Mountainboard

sp4cem0nkey - 30-6-2011 at 08:52 PM

$300 Shipped anywhere in the continental US.

This board is in nearly new condition. My friend bought it and rode it maybe 4 times.

The trucks are GI Bionics with white torsion cubes.

The board comes with spare bolts and 2 allen wrenches.
Everything on the board is original except for the grip tape.

Definitely 2010. Gen II Patrol

One of the 2 GI boards (the other is the Edge) that uses a P-Tex base on the underside of the board.

Scuffs and dings can be repaired the same way that you do a base repair for a snowboard.

About an 1.5 inches longer that the 2009 Patrol 106 (2009 model) that preceded it.

Sam

We have one. Pretty friggin sweet board. It rides a little bit higher than the previous Patrol but after riding it a few times I prefer the stance and height. Very nice board.

sp4cem0nkey - 12-7-2011 at 08:14 PM

This board is a sweet deal...

DirtDave1 - 13-7-2011 at 02:49 PM

I'm working on getting a buyer for this one. His budget is a little lower than $300 but we'll see what we can do. I'll keep ya posted. :D

SenturySnowboards - 20-1-2012 at 04:27 PM

I'm interested. Give me some details and numbers?

indigo_wolf - 20-1-2012 at 06:22 PM

Most of the details are in the first 4 posts.

The Product Page for the Patrol can be found here:
http://groundindustries.com/index.php?option=com_content&...

You might want to send him a U2U (User To User message, upper right right hand side of the screen), if you are in a hurry, as he hasn't been on the board for about 4 days and might be tending to other things. A U2U will send a notification to he email account.

ATB,
Sam

burritobandit - 20-1-2012 at 06:28 PM

I texted SpaceMonkey to let him know Sentury was interested, and SpaceMonkey said the board has been sold.

SenturySnowboards - 21-1-2012 at 03:39 PM

Man to late??

burritobandit - 21-1-2012 at 03:41 PM

yep :/

SenturySnowboards - 21-1-2012 at 04:11 PM

Bummer. :/

sp4cem0nkey - 22-1-2012 at 11:02 PM

Sorry SS, I sold it a few months back.

SenturySnowboards - 23-1-2012 at 02:18 PM

Its all good. Was it a good board? Looking at buying one.
Would you suggest it

SenturySnowboards - 23-1-2012 at 04:38 PM

Well I'm looking on buying one of these boards. What did you think about it? good board?

sp4cem0nkey - 24-1-2012 at 09:08 AM

It's a good solid board but a little bulky. For smaller riders like myself (160lb) a lighter smaller board would be better. Also it doesn't come with grip tape.
That said, I bet that board can handle a lot of abuse. It is built tough.

That sounds like a mistake. ALL GI boards should come with grip tape.... actually all mountain boards should to the best of my knowledge.

On the website, the boards are show without grip tape purely for aesthetics (sort of like when motorcycles have the rearview mirrors removes for promo shots).

On most of the GI boards the grip tape was pre-installed on the board. For a small windows in time, they shipped the boards with the the tape packaged seperately in a plastic bag for you to install.

If you had received the Patrol without the tape, I am sure you could have gotten it from GI, gratis. Of course, with GI now defunct it's a moot point.

I have received boards without binding bolts too.... stuff happens, but one phone call is usually all it takes to get stuff like that straightened out.

ATB,
Sam

SenturySnowboards - 24-1-2012 at 12:13 PM

Yeah well I just found an ak pro ground industries board on craigslist for 500. Do you guys know anything about those boards? http://sacramento.craigslist.org/bik/2800287234.html

burritobandit - 24-1-2012 at 12:27 PM

Looks like that listing's expired, but here's information on the AK Pro:
http://groundindustries.com/index.php?option=com_content&...

Are you limiting your search to GI boards? If $500 is your budget, you'd be able to find a high-end MBS board much more easily.

SenturySnowboards - 24-1-2012 at 01:07 PM

Oh no he still has it. He said he would sell it for 450 now and I just heard its top of the line board there.

SenturySnowboards - 24-1-2012 at 01:13 PM

Is that true. Is it a pretty good board?

indigo_wolf - 24-1-2012 at 02:14 PM

Before GI closed their doors, the Akoni Kama was their top of the line board. I think MSRP on it was around $650 and the street price was $525 or higher.

GI is no more, since the AK uses spring bionic trucks, most replacement parts can be sourced elsewhere when the time comes for it.

At close to 46" it is one of the larger mountainboards.

With the exception of the cobweb , the AK in the Craigslist ad looks like it is in mint condition.

That covers most of it, post back if you have additional questions.

ATB,
Sam

burritobandit - 24-1-2012 at 02:17 PM

Yeah the AK was one of if not THE top of the line from GI. $450 is not a bad price for it if it is in great condition.

SenturySnowboards - 24-1-2012 at 02:28 PM

Ok thanks that helped a lot. So good buy?

indigo_wolf - 24-1-2012 at 02:52 PM

Good board, good buy... whether you want to spend that much for your first (?) board is between you, your checkbook... and the 24 hour locksmith that helps you get back into your house (if there is a potentially disgruntled "significant other" in the mix).

ATB,
Sam

SenturySnowboards - 24-1-2012 at 07:18 PM

Ok one more question... Would you prefer a top of the line mbs board or ground industire board

does tape help?

flyguy0101 - 25-1-2012 at 05:15 PM

Look at atrampa if you willing to drop 5 bills, prejudice but think they are the best boards out there

You really can't go wrong with either, but one long-term issue you may want to consider is part availability. GI parts may be harder to find now and in the future since they went out of business. MBS is still producing boards and parts.

Trampa is definitely another brand to consider and it seems that all their boards are top of the line. There's also Scrub, who have boards that will compete with the top of the line stuff from GI, MBS, and Trampa.

indigo_wolf - 25-1-2012 at 09:33 PM

FWIW: I think GI Parts availability only comes into play with GI boards with Torsion Bionic Trucks. For Spring Bionics, you can source parts from other manufacturers for the most part. Bindings, hubs, etcs are fairly interchangeable between manufactuers.

Sam
