We are heading up Thursday afternoon and staying till Monday night or Tuesday morning. Look for us at the Connectikiters home base in our Motorshed!
And Chris is always a great addition to an event. He is full of energy and enjoys giving demo's.

Room to buggy...?

chudalicious - 4-7-2011 at 08:41 AM

Not really Cheezy... Anderson and I would fly there occasionally but with trees, stone walls and many onlookers, it's a tough one.

We'll be there on Sat. See you then Dave!

The other problem is that you have lots and lots of civilian pedestrians walking around on full auto staring up at the big show kites. You'll see people walk into tents, kite stakes, and various other objects. Definitely qualifies as a "target-rich environment" during the main festival hours. Add in folks that leave their kites untended when the wind shifts and well.... it can be semi-controlled mayhem.

I think i still have video somewhere of some pedestrian tripping over a metal screw stake, and yelling at some poor kid "Thats Dangerous" he yells . :dunno:

Wish I was going to be there. I suspect this information is carried over from last year. A bevy of German HQ Team riders are arriving this Friday on Hatteras and we're taking a road trip south from here for the weekend. Sorry to miss Newport.

Yes...there is room to buggy on the demo field. Small, but it works and spectators love it. Just touch base with the field director and they can slot you in. Doublespeed is usually there, too.

I talked to Ron the other day and he is looking for more demo's, Let me know I will introduce you to him and get things set up.

chudalicious - 5-7-2011 at 06:37 PM

alighty... who is going to be there and what day? We have to go to Boston on Saturday but will the festivities still be had on Sunday?

rocfighter - 5-7-2011 at 06:45 PM

Chud we will be there as I said from Thursday-monday night or tuesday morning. The festival is Sat-Sun. Lots of stuff happening and should be sweet weather. Just need good winds. Or any wind will work!! Come by say hi and have a burger or hot dog. We will have water as well.

indigo_wolf - 5-7-2011 at 06:48 PM

Friday is an all day open fly.

Well the week up there was great. Thursday was good weather, Friday had lots of rain, but some wind. Saturday was nice weather but not much wind. Sunday was the day. Great weather, great winds after noontime. Paul,doublespeed360, and Buggy Dan showed of there freestyle abilities. Chud and Anderson showed up as well. I was looking for the imfamous Sam but didn't see him. Would have liked to meet you Sam. It was a great 5 day trip and I think we had the best camp site in RI all weekend. We hope to see more of you soon.

Sorry.... originally intended to head down on Sunday. Girlfriend got called to the hospital and I got dogwatch duties. 13 year old springer spaniels have the bladders of little old ladies (which I guess they kind of are).

Infamous?!?! Gonna have to have T-Shirts made up now.

Err....umm.... you do realize you have already met me, don't you? Gary E. introduced us a couple of years back. In fact, it was actually at Newport.

Maybe I would be more memorable in pink.... or a loverly shade of fuschia. :sniff:

Do not ever be offended when I don't remember meeting you. You dog has the bladder of an old lady, I have the memory for meeting folks of an old ...
And Gary intros me to so many people it's nuts. That guy knows every one.

rocfighter - 26-7-2011 at 02:56 PM

WOW I just reread my last post here. It sounded rather curt to me so I guess others may think so as well. Sorry for that it was not intended at all. I suppose I need to look over my posts better before I post them.

indigo_wolf - 26-7-2011 at 04:34 PM

I honestly didn't take it as curt. We're good, Dave.

Yes, Gary does know more people than God. I expect the gypsy lifestyle and custom kites and banners are part of the reason.
