Route Planning

3,374km's mapped out!

From home, through Jasper, Kamloops, Chilliwack to Sumas crossing. I-5 to Longview then over to the beach! The home trip is across and up - through Portland to Hood River where I'll hopefully nab a downwinder with the instructor I had in Florida and her husband (skills depending). Then up and over, Spokane, through a bit of Idaho and up through the Crowsnest Pass with Lake Keho in my sights.

Grab a quick ride and home I go. Gonna be a great getaway. Can't wait to see you all again and meet some for the first time. Arkay - might need to come play in your water at Manzanita too. Who knows what aqueous exploits await me this summer......hopefully a pantload.

driving down the I-5, i believe taking the 101 exit is faster than driving south to Longview and up again

Merge onto US-101 N via EXIT 104 toward ABERDEEN/PORT ANGELES.

when are you coming down? we plan to be there Canadian Long Weekend, and we can drive together. Ken #3 doesnt move that fast since we're making him take the trailer. HAHAHA.

We used to live in the Seattle area and drove to the Long Beach/Astoria area a lot. The Longview route is much faster and more direct.

Ooooo you should come to manzo for sure. It's a great spot! If you know when you're heading to HR, I might tag a long too, would love to do a led downwinder

I'm in for the long weekend for sure and will leave when it's time to leave. I don't know if SOBB really quiets down after the crazy Canadians head back to work or if it stays on and on and on......going to keep it quite loose. I'll be keeping an eye on the wind forecasts for HR all the while I'm down there. Nothing saying I can't go hit the gorge and come back to Sunset.

Arkay - if the downwinder happens I bet it'll be heaven and yup, even better to share with other PKFers!

The Gorge is an easy enough day trip from Seaside .

Arkay has Coyotes . I hope you will drag yours along? I'll have mine.

Will you be swinging through Vancouver on the way down? What days will you be here ? I plan to head down to Oregon early on the Friday to avoid the long weekend nightmares at the boarder.

P.S. what are the names of the couple from the Gorge ?

Jeanice and Mike Stone. They're teaching at Kite the Gorge this season.

Coyotes will be in the trunk for SURE! They'll handle the sand?

All I really know for certain is that I'll be down there for the start and through the long weekend to get a chance to visit with my Canadian brothers (and sisters). Beyond that....I may just have to see how the wind blows ; ) I think the shortest border crossing route is down south around Abbotsford but if it's only another 30-45 minutes I might as well join the convoy and swing over to Vancouver. Thanks for the tip on the long weekend border delays. I was half thinking i'd make the run straight - 18 hour marathon but could plan a stopover in BC first.
