Fall Bash Ideas

Todd - 7-7-2011 at 11:13 AM

Rich and I have some very exciting news to share with the group on the up and coming fall event. However I would like to hear from you the people on what we can do to make it better for you and your family. I have researched what will be open in the lines of museums and points of interest for the loved ones not wishing to be on the beach all day. Anything else? Open it up and feel free to criticize if you will so we can make this a premier event.

Exciting news still being worked out but I can promise it will be BIG!

WELDNGOD - 7-7-2011 at 12:32 PM

an area for beginners to learn in without all of us speed demons intimidating them would be nice.

Chad - 7-7-2011 at 01:00 PM

My wife and kids loved the indoor water park just down the road a ways by the boardwalk . O' it also had a bar and hot tub..Hint Hint.. :eureka:

Montego Bay Resort

1700 Boardwalk, North Wildwood, NJ
(609) 523-1000
Dont know time that it opens or closes.

Todd - 7-7-2011 at 02:23 PM

@Chad, I plan to call that place and see if I can get a group rate or something. Anything will help.
@Donnie, tough call... how can we do this without hurting feeling. I don't want anyone to get hurt and this is why we need to have a safety meeting here or at the beach so there's no miscommunication. Common sense stuff.

Keep them coming!

WIllardTheGrey - 7-7-2011 at 02:35 PM

Hold it in Florence so I can come:lol:.

Have fun anyway!

You never know... that MIGHT just happen

WELDNGOD - 7-7-2011 at 02:46 PM

I don't think anyone would have hurt feelings. We can sector off an area at one end ,and all the "experienced pilots" who travel the whole legnth of the beach can just turn around when they get to the cones and go back the other way. I think 1/4 mile at the end would give beginners and landboarders a SAFER alternative than being amongst us. And if they feel up to it,they can come out of the safety box and ride w/ the experienced peeps. Just tryin to look out for some of our peeps who aren't as confident yet. It seemed to me(in Oct) that we(experienced pilots) kind of took over the north beach and pushed the landboarders aside. Just sayin'.....

Todd - 7-7-2011 at 02:50 PM

Very much agreed Donnie. We need a spot for the land boarders and the real reason why will hopefully come to light soon. Cross your fingers on this one.

chudalicious - 7-7-2011 at 04:15 PM

How bout we all pitch in and buy some killer wind?

WELDNGOD - 7-7-2011 at 04:16 PM

Just not too much!(like spring?) J/K I just need to grow a bigger set!

Or maybe Adam will be back?

WELDNGOD - 7-7-2011 at 04:43 PM

I was already countin on him to be there. (not that I know anything ) just kinda figured he would want to be here with Rip comin and all. I wanna go landcruising w/ him on KGB this time. I couldn't in Oct. cause of my shoulder. But I'm good to go now,and I wanna have some fun!!

shehatesmyhobbies - 7-7-2011 at 04:46 PM

Donnie, so right you are! Kinda leaves the less experienced riders fighting for their own out there. We will work on that. I think it's a great idea! Plenty of beach for all types of riders, lets use it!

Kristin, really hoping that the winds will be just right, doesn't have to be nuclear, just kickn! Gotta see you going in that sweet ride of yours!

I am also thinking maybe a fun little, for the bragging rights, relay race. 3 or 4 pilot buggy teams/ landboarders . Teams chosen by picking numbers out of a hat. Two teams at a time, down and back, switch! You know,Work the details later! Bob, I know you will like this part!

Some of the other good stuff will be released in due time!

WELDNGOD - 7-7-2011 at 04:48 PM

I'd be down to race! WHOOP WHOOP!!

shehatesmyhobbies - 7-7-2011 at 04:53 PM

Knew you would, was no doubt in my mind!

Kober - 7-7-2011 at 08:18 PM

sand box ???? for me ????? ...... no hurt feelings
WOW !!!!
Yes ... I did have problems getting started on North beach with all pros zipping thru ..... That was my 4th time on buggy .... first time in winds above 20 and first time with more then 2 kites in air .......

.... My biggest problem was to get out from lunch area with many kites at zenith there was very little room to pass by for beginner like me .... after getting out somehow I did manage to stay away from all passing baggies .....

It is nice to have many questions answered here at forum ..... I think discussion meeting at WBB would be fun where random questions get answered by other kiters and gives you ability to replay instantly .... Let say I am wondering about Big Foot tires or something that is equality good for soft sand ...... you get way more info when there is 40 kiters in a room ......

chudalicious - 7-7-2011 at 08:42 PM

Can't wait guys... I'll take xtra vitamin C too to make sure I don't get sick again!

Gotta ride dangit. Hope Adam can make it too. Need to ATB and get my learning on! (or Donnie's gonna duct tape my arse to the thing!)

:spin:

ripsessionkites - 8-7-2011 at 04:36 AM

Adam is coming??? this is news to me, as I only spoke to his Manager about coming.

We had a few emails going between Todd and Rich. But the WestCoast XXtreme / Peter Lynn is coming to join the fun only. Whatever you guys are doing for the event is up to you guys. We have no input but want to enjoy your event as a vistor / guest.

On the racing end of things, nothing is concrete for NAPKA rules, do as you please ... however it would be nice to see you guys join up to NAPKA ~ just saying!!! :bigok:

here goes my list:

1. who is paying for my room(s)
2. what is there to do at night (when coolbreeze and dino sleep)
3. must find go-kart track (coolbreeze and I have some racing to do)
4. what is your state tax rate, need to find mall / apple store / fry's
5. beach speed limit
6. zoning area(s) / restricted area(s) ... (shoreline, dunes, plants, animals, etc etc)
7. sight-seeing, i may choose not to buggy at all.
8. wind website / tide times (if any)
9. any event parties
10. where to get RockStar and Vodka

just curious why the area needs to be sectioned off, how can you progress if you're locked in. i rather yell at someone "youre doing good" and trying to pass them.

adam doesnt need his own area, he can just jump over us if not we just run him over.

let the fun begin. see ya in a few months.

windhunter - 8-7-2011 at 07:24 AM

OK... for those of us who don't know jack about the previous Bash's, can someone fill me in on approximately where it all takes place and about when. I'm assuming the East Coast somewhere and obviously this fall. What min. equipment a guy should expect to have to show up at an event like this, so not to make a complete fool of himself. Hopefully I'll be off the injured reserve list and have learned" buggy basics 101 with what little I have right now. I'm really excited and interested in getting together with anyone and learning everything I can without killing myself in the process. Only flying for a few, busted my ars (foot), wife's pissed (she'll get over it), and I ain't givin up yet.

cheezycheese - 8-7-2011 at 07:32 AM

What we are referring to would be the WildWood Buggy Bash. Only the greatest gathering of kite minded people in the Northeast !!!
There is section dedicated to WWBB posts on the forum - read up !!! And we would love to have you. Come as you are, bring what you have ( what you dint bring is what you're gonna need)... You will have the best time kiting, learning, whatching the pros... And then there's the infamous WWBB BBQ !!!

flyjump - 8-7-2011 at 09:58 AM

chris thanks for hooking me up with lodging! so nice of you guys

shehatesmyhobbies - 8-7-2011 at 10:07 AM

Windhunter, the fall WBB will be held the weekend of October 22. Some come early but most show up Thursday night or Friday morning. It is held in Wildwood NJ. Like cheesy said, there is a WBB forum at the bottom of the main PKF page. If you have any questions shoot me an email or call me at 3024806008.

Rich

windhunter - 8-7-2011 at 10:47 AM

Gonna set it as a goal to be ready for. Havn't got any time in the buggy yet. Nursin a jacked up foot and chompin at the bit. Local winds been better than I've seen in a while. I've been scrounging through all the post n vid's in the WW forum great stuff. Thanks

shehatesmyhobbies - 8-7-2011 at 12:39 PM

Here is the video from last fall's event! One great event for sure!

WBB Fall 2010

shehatesmyhobbies - 8-7-2011 at 12:42 PM

Chris, glad to hear that HQ is picking up the room tab, thought maybe him and Dino were going to have to race for it to see who pays!:lol:

Looking_Up - 15-8-2011 at 07:56 AM

Blind Poker run thee card stud always wanted to do this on a sailing course
Five would be cool but I think depending on the beach and wind three might be more reasonable
Each course using different skills to get to the card station
Blind meaning you get the card on top you can't pick your hand :wee:

shehatesmyhobbies - 15-8-2011 at 10:23 AM

Interesting concept. I'll put that one one the front burner and keep a thought on it.

Looking_Up - 15-8-2011 at 11:37 AM

I like the format
I first heard it down in the keys and doing it blind means that it is more about the journey and less of a race so we greenhorns have a chance at a decent hand kindof levels the field

ragden - 15-8-2011 at 11:40 AM

I'm not getting it.. Maybe I'm just slow...

Looking_Up - 15-8-2011 at 11:51 AM

It's like a standard trip around thee or more stations this makes up the course one may be way unwind where you have to work at getting there but when u do you get a card
Then you might have a long reach to get to the next station and you receive a card there
Then usually you have a downwinder to the last station or finishing where you receive your final card once everyone has completed you compare your three card hand to see who's is best usually there is a pot or prizes for 1,2,3
But by shuffling the cards and drawing blind it doesn't matter who finishes first it will be the best three cards that win so as long as you complete the course you could win
Its not really a competition more of an event to test your skills and to participate in something with everyone on a level playing field

shehatesmyhobbies - 15-8-2011 at 12:11 PM

Without a doubt a good check on your skills. I like being challenged, and having to work the heck out of the kite! Sounds like a good deal, need more feed back!

ragden - 15-8-2011 at 12:23 PM

Sounds interesting.... Though, knowing the way I ride, I'd probably get all the cards, hand them in, then go back out and keep riding...

If you do this, you would want to do a staggered start to prevent people from getting tied up together... Just a thought. The beach is big, but best to spread people out when possible...

rocfighter - 15-8-2011 at 12:38 PM

I would need lots of room!!:wee:

cheezycheese - 15-8-2011 at 12:38 PM

I have a fall bash idea.... Let's move the spring bash back to May !!!

shehatesmyhobbies - 15-8-2011 at 12:43 PM

It could very well be the first weekend in May next year Marc! Got some news coming soon! Get the family ready to have a blast!

van - 15-8-2011 at 12:47 PM

I vote for May also for spring .. way to close to NABX. I made it to both but it was hard taking vacation so close together.

shehatesmyhobbies - 15-8-2011 at 12:52 PM

I just really hope you make it Van! Love to see you guys again! My kids will be there from Thursday this fall!

rocfighter - 15-8-2011 at 08:08 PM

May 4th is The Kidds B-day. That would be cool.

if we start together, the pack will shrink as the faster riders will go head. its just another challenge to learn to ride beside, behind, in front of other pilots.

if we have to stop, land and get cards it would be fun running after it with a harness on.
or .... will someone be at each marker handing you the card?

Dino does a great job of holding everyone back too. :moon:
you'll have to see it first hand.

i haven't decided about Spring yet, but is too close to NABX for me to make it in May. But something will be there in my presence.

In your presence, or your absence?

Looking forward to seeing you guys there... ;)

ripsessionkites - 16-8-2011 at 05:36 AM

Absence, iPhone Auto type.

Looking_Up - 16-8-2011 at 07:47 AM

I was just suggesting an idea but if you want I can work some detail out
I don't know who all will be there and who will be sitting out to help but we might be able to convince some wife to help
Quick show of hands for a manned or unmanned card station

bobalooie57 - 16-8-2011 at 07:55 AM

A manned station would keep everyone honest! Also give the opportunity to explain to the G.P. what is going on. I like the idea of landing to get your card and relaunching, gives practice, but would probably need a space set aside at each station for doing so(for safety sake). Would this be possible/practical? If it is a buggier that is manning the stations, they should get their 3 cards by default for volunteering. Just my thoughts.

Looking_Up - 16-8-2011 at 08:12 AM

That could be good for the volunteers I like the park and card too but might be impractical if you have a arc does auto zenith count and landlords could participate as well

ragden - 16-8-2011 at 08:29 AM

Ah... I was looking forward to the high speed hand-off as I powerslide around the station...

Looking_Up - 16-8-2011 at 08:43 AM

We would need to video that it would not come out the way you are picturing it :wee:

ragden - 16-8-2011 at 09:26 AM

Was doing that at the last bash, or was it the one before... riding in the soft sand, throwing large power-sliding turns around folks taking pictures.. worked out fine...

Of course, I'm a bit out of practice as I havent been in a buggy since the spring bash... Might need a bit to warm up before doing that successfully... Cameras at the ready.. the wipeouts are pretty impressive...
;)

doublespeed360 - 20-9-2011 at 05:06 PM

i have a balance board to donate for the raffle, maybe we could get some people close to the pool and see how good they are .i must not partake do to conflict of interest and bad shoulder.

shehatesmyhobbies - 20-9-2011 at 05:29 PM

Sounds good Paul! That could be a blast! I made one for my daughter, she loves it!

snowspider - 20-9-2011 at 05:46 PM

We can let the kids balance the unicycle on the balance board. Its easy!

WELDNGOD - 9-10-2011 at 05:52 PM

I'm bringing a "banshee bungee" if it arrives in time....

snowspider - 10-10-2011 at 08:31 AM

WG if you really want I can bring two of the kids plastic skate board ramps , they abuse them terribly and have'nt broken them yet. Yea or nea?

WELDNGOD - 10-10-2011 at 09:20 AM

Could be fun for the high tide festivities.

shehatesmyhobbies - 10-10-2011 at 04:38 PM

Definitely sounds like our down time is going to be as much fun as our fly time!

doublespeed360 - 10-10-2011 at 05:06 PM

Dog buggy...

snowspider - 11-10-2011 at 07:13 AM

I'll bring the ramps and I just put together two sand anchors for a slackline I set up for the kids someone might have to help me dig the holes to bury them. (the anchors not the kids)

flyguy0101 - 11-10-2011 at 07:37 AM

SS- i was thinking of bringing my slackline as well- maybe set yours up on the beach and mine at the hotel/cookout more fun to watch after the participant has had a few adult beverages.
Scott

snowspider - 11-10-2011 at 09:39 AM

Bring it Scott ,mine is a diy set up , not rigged for trailer hitches , trees or light poles.

Jaymz - 13-10-2011 at 08:45 PM

Ramps? If we tell WW to leave the MX course up after this past weekends races, we won't need to bring any ramps

Check out the end of this video. My buddies kid Dakota #449 got a bad start, but worked his way up to pass for the lead. Then A-hole Lettieri #446 cuts the course @ 3:25 to retake it. After the finish you see Dakota gives him a few shots, then a Big fight broke out in the pits. Gotta love MX, still like Nascar used to be. We all get along better I suppose ;-)

shehatesmyhobbies - 14-10-2011 at 04:58 AM

That was messed up! Nice video to watch, thanks for sharing it. See you soon!

Todd - 14-10-2011 at 02:25 PM

Please keep in mind that safety is paramount and let’s keep the activities at the beach. Let’s have fun.
