New Hero or just new Wrist Case?
How old is the camera? How old is the case?
Did you notice any damage or foreign matter around the gasket?
Fresh or salt water?
Water damage is not covered by the warranty, however....

Contact GoPro it's their issue not the dealer you got it from.

I take mine scuba diving and snorkeling all the time, no problems. Sounds like the case may not have been closed all the way or as indego said,
something may have got on the gasket and not allowed it to seal. They also have a case that is open in the back that allows for sound recording when
filming. Call Gopro and ask.
