Has anyone tried one of these? I heard it holds pretty good insofar as wind forces on an umbrella goes and I know the force on the T3 chickenloop is
pretty tame (and far more lateral than the force from an umbrella in the wind) so I think it might work.
We have one anyway but thought if anyone had tried they could save me the comedy and potential bad stuff on a public beach if it didn't work

Kiteboarding.com has been advertising their solo launch device it would probably work good with a long tent stakearkay - 14-7-2011 at 10:21 PM
Dog stake for 2$ or a log that's on the beach works great too. I prefer to not tie off any launch but to self launch like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4KAMj-K1W8QKober - 14-7-2011 at 10:23 PM
Should be able to launch/land without an anchor ... I do it all the time and don't consider myself an expert
So unless your launch site is really tight ...
What we have at the lake is old 10kg rice bags full of sand tied off with 5mm rope and buried. I never use them though :Dmacboy - 14-7-2011 at 11:26 PM
I'll have to go out to the field to try this a few times so I know how much the kite travels but it looks like I can do this without an anchor on the
beach here. Pretty tight but not so bad.Kamikuza - 15-7-2011 at 12:51 AM
Depending on the kite ... fly it to the edge of the window, balance it on a wingtip on the ground - all depowered as much as possible - and pull the
center lines. Should flop over onto the LE into the wind ... SAFE! tridude - 15-7-2011 at 03:28 AM

as kami stated..................unless your surface is full of sticks and rocks anchor not required....................self launch and land necessary

HA I TRIED THAT BECAUSE I SAW IT ON A HOW TO VIDEO AND GOT THRASHED
IF YOU HAVE GUSTY SHIFTY WINDS THERE IS A STEEP LEARNING CURVE
MAKE SHURE TO DEPOWER AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE IF IT FLIPS BACK OVER AND INTO THE WINDOW PULL THE RELEASE IMMEDIATELY THAT WAS MY MISTAKE
I WAS INLAND AND DIDNT WANT TO END UP WITH A BROKEN KITE SO I TRIED TO FLY IT OUT THROUGH A GUST NASTY ENDINGtridude - 15-7-2011 at 11:56 AM
Mac,
you dont need an anchor...................your local crowd can help with assisted, self launch and land..............let us know how it turns
out...........macboy - 15-7-2011 at 02:49 PM
Landing's a breeze - it's the launch that I'll try as shown in that other video. Looks easy enough as long as the kite won't get damaged. Should be
OK.macboy - 2-8-2011 at 10:05 PM
Irony.........
Tomorrow we're set for a full day at the beach on the home stretch of our family getaway. We're in Salmon Arm and have found a great place with a
dog-friendly beach so we popped into Canadian Tire to get some spur of the moment beach neccessities. Floaty, foam cooler, beach mat, bouyant frisbee
for the dog, and a beach umbrella. Guess what I DIDN'T bring along for the trip?
The umbrella anchor that I bought for occasions just like this and for some chickenloop launches/landings........ arkay - 2-8-2011 at 10:17 PM
when in doubt... get a nylon strap aka tie down aka rope aka god leash... and find a nice big tree or log or rock :D Or bumper of an RV :o
