I'm a total newbie to LEI's. Have a mint condition 2002 Fuel 8m. So what's the trick to inflating the little struts and getting 'em capped before
you lose half the air? The older model doesn't have check valves in the bladders...

Depends most times the check valves only work for so long even on a brand new kite. It is easiest to inflate then pinch the valve while capping it.
You can also inflate then after some practice as your pulling the pump out you put the cap in really fast. There is a little video of it posted here. http://www.oceanextremesports.com/gallery/albums/album02/pum...
