Flysurfer Flyrace - Without the center fin

joedy - 25-7-2011 at 05:12 AM

Does anyone know if the Flyrace without the center fin can be used like a traditional light wind board?

Are the foot straps adjustable to allow better conventional edging?

If seems to be that if it does, this would make an ideal light wind board that also offers racing options.

it has super jacked heels on the footpads, doubt thats adjustable... other wise just a big asymmetrical TT.

probably could change pads to regular and have the center finn option.

riding with the fin in you want the heel cant for sure, it would be a furiously scarey without

... sounds like you just need a 2011 Flydoor XL :o

What major differences (aside from the heel pad geometries) does the Flyrace have over the Flydoor XL? Are the planforms similar? Does anyone think that considering a Flyrace as their primary light wind board is counterproductive?

What effect does pulling the center fin all the way out when riding have? Does this force the Flyrace to function similar to the other door-like boards?

I was like you deciding between a Race vs Door. I went on to order the Door.

I can't see myself racing so there is no need to have that huge fin there.
Yes like above the footpads are setup differently as well so you need to change this out.
I heard, not my review but if the fin isn't in there is small amounts of water spray from it. Dunno what that means so much.

On the Door you could easily add a deep fin to the center.

No the Flyrace is a whole other beast ... head over to Foilzone and read about it - I get the feeling that you have to fiddle with the fin to get optimal riding, otherwise the board goes all weird.
Stick to the 'door - jump on and ride! No messing about ...
