going in Jan? Dec thru mid May is the dry, windy season, Jan is perfect................we are spending Christmas this year in Puerto Rico which is just east of Hispanola (DR)..........remember dry and windy Dec thru May. I have a couple of employees from the DR. Ill ask them tomorrow about nice, affordable places to stay.........................If you dont hablo espanol its not a bad idea to learn a few phrases, time, directions, shopping, etc.............the more you try in their native tongue the more assistance youre going to get................

this doesnt too bad look

I'm in.....just pay the airfare and I'll be your translator. Yo hablo Espanol y esposa de mi padre es Domincana.
I spent 2 summers in DR working marine salvage with my father in '80 and '81.
My fathers wife still has family in DR. I'll see if she knows anything about Calabrete or the Puerto Plata area.
Guy from Sandy Hook was there 2 years ago and said it was amazing....and cheap, just don't eat out at the swanky restaurants on the strip or drink the water. Only spanish you need to know is "Donde putas?" and "Hay Cono!" when there is no wind
Start planning.
