i'm going to be taking my kite to the beach for the first time in a week or so and I was wondering how to clean it of sand and such when im done

Hold it by the trailing edge, invert it and shake when you are done or when you get home.

I gave my stuff a good fresh water rinse when I returned home. I was able to hang the lines and kites (by the brake bridle) in an unfinished basement to dry. You could hear the sand falling toward the leading edge throughout the night as it dried. A light shake in the morning, and almost all of the sand can be removed from the leading edge.

I have seen others hang larger kites on a clothes line, I would keep it in the shade if possible. Also I have well water, someone else may be able to speak to the effects of chlorine if you are on public water.

I've never had any problem using public(city) water rinsing my gear. The amount of chlorine is not enough to cause a bleaching effect.

The advantage to FB kites in a low wind day? Invert and stall!!!
Shakes out the sand every time. ;)

Vacuum and wash with fresh water.

Invert and stall while shaking at the same time is what I do!
