Lap belt and belly pan

I did this with two tie down straps, a stainless D ring and a Ronstan quick release. Seems to work.....







I've made a loop with one of the tie-down straps and larks headed it to the side rail after threading it through the quick release. This holds it in place and keeps the buckle where I can adjust it quickly - slacken it off to attach then a quick tighten and bob's your uncle. Used the other tie-down strap in the usual way to secure a D-ring to the other side.

When I had worked out the lengths, I cut the slack off the two straps with a hot knife.

Some of the buggy jumping regulars (I'm just staying in the bug, not jumping) use velcro straps and 50mm plastic Fastex buckles. Others use seat belts......

Dark Skys (UK) still seems to be the best place to get belly pans.

A company called Body Point makes a variety of 2-point and 4-point belts that are meant to be used with wheel chairs and mobility devices. They are padded, but still fairly low-profile.

Not cheap, but you could always order an airline style lap belt and pad or not as you see fit.

If you need to go less expensive. The actual buckle can be snagged from eBay. They have become fashionable to use for everything from belt buckles to guitar straps.

Strapworks can get you sorted for any type webbing you might want. Polyster will hold up better in terms of mildew/UV if you are on the beach.

Two things about the airline seat type buckles.

• They come in at least two flavors. One release when you pull the latch 90 degrees. The other flavor only requires a 30 degree pull to release.
  
  
• While the buckle itself is generally stainless steel, the return springs are not. Oil/lube them regularly and clean out any sand to keep them operating smoothly.

WRT to attaching them, I thought you would be strapping the webbing to the rear axle near where the rear seat straps are and then feeding them around the seat back.
