SOBB Updates and Daily Posts

bison - 22-8-2011 at 12:04 PM

Hey Gang,

With SOBB just around the corner, I want to announce that I will be providing frequent updates prior to and during SOBB this year.

Go to www.sunsetbeachbumbuggyriders.com and check out the latest posts from this weekend and a new report from Jellis.

I will have some pics later this week and a more detailed account of the beach conditions, among other things.

Come to Buggy Camp, have a blast and give me something to write about. :wee:

bison - 1-9-2011 at 08:17 AM

Visit www.sunsetbeachbumbuggyriders.com for all the latest updates from the 2011 SOBB event.

If you want to contribute, just catch me at Buggycamp or on the beach. I can post from my phone right from camp or beach.

arkay - 1-9-2011 at 08:48 AM

Cool! I was also planning to post snapshots from the phone on a section of my blog... if I can post there from the field, cool... does that work or do we need to send/funnel stuff through you?

arkay - 1-9-2011 at 10:42 PM

If anyone want to do instant uploads, let me know and I'll give you the email addy for the blog. A quick place to centralize mobile uploads... the pics can just be pulled over to the sobb site. http://sobb2011.blogspot.com/

bigkid - 1-9-2011 at 11:11 PM

how come you cropped my buggy out?:dunno:
the home page looks to be a bit bias.
Maybe my new one will look a bit more like those other ones.

So whats the preffered/recommended entry point for the beach, I heard sunset beach entrance is not good? I do have 4wd..

I am gonna be heading out in hour or two, probably be @ beach 10-11am, not knowing the area, hopinh I can have a gameplan before I roll into seaside...

Todd & stetson have my Cell digits, if someone can throw me a txt/email after 8am I can get it enroute. Can't wait to meet you all!

arkay - 4-9-2011 at 08:55 AM

Either sunset or del ray.. Sunset isn't that bad if you say on the path, but it wasa zoo of minivans rejects yesterday...

Del ray has a narrow spot but you should be able to
Make it thru at 10.

Oter option is to park at subset and a call in a ride...

Todd - 4-9-2011 at 09:08 AM

Speed equals distance

lamrith - 4-9-2011 at 07:04 PM

Thanks for the warm welcome guys! Wish I could have been there yesterday, and sory I scared the wind away!

Hopefully it returned after I left, someone had to escort Todd home or he would have gotten into trouble.:ninja:

who is that hot chick in the profile picture, hope she has a pink skirt

Ricky is drunk again and safely tucked into bed 21h50....:wee:

arkay - 5-9-2011 at 10:06 AM

should be foggy til 11ish... low tide is about 12:50... there is a light NW breeze down the entire coast line... the valley should be hot again, so here's hoping! The jetty sensor is reporting 6 (so take a few off for the beach). Jones is already at 12, so it'll likely be windy here or there but not both.

Any on site reports?

airin - 5-9-2011 at 05:44 PM

Great weekend...got me over the top stoked about buggying and the buggy community. Thanks to all of you who came to SOBB and a special thanks to our American friends for your generosity and hospitality.

lamrith - 5-9-2011 at 07:44 PM

I also wanted to say thanks to everyone. You made me feel very welcome. I also appreciate all the offers from people willing to let me get a feel for these larger traction kites so I can make a somewhat informed buying decision. You guys are great, sorry I chased teh wind away on Sunday!

Leojim - 6-9-2011 at 07:37 PM

Had a great time at SOBB. The Canadians (Kanadians eh' Ricki) are just plain crazy! What can I say, my kind of people!
Much thanks to Eli and Ozone for there support. Also much thanks to Ricki and Deiter for their representation of PL and that other dirty word (Pansh). Also much thanks to Shawn, Jon and many other locals for their part in making it all happen. You are all a great bunch of people!
And lastly, thanks to Josh for all the entertainment at buggy camp on Sunday night.
Bottom line it was great to meet many of you and put faces with some of those on this forum.

PS: I still can't pop a top with a lighter Ricki! What talent you Kanadians have!!

kiteboyza - 6-9-2011 at 09:20 PM

well share the lighter secret trick later dude, nice to meet you

Bladerunner - 7-9-2011 at 06:31 AM

Airin and I are home safe !

Very interested in how the day played out for those in Manzo' and Sunset.

On the road up we stopped at cannon beach . About 15mph on shore and clear . HONEST !
Unfortunately we had to keep moving. Had we known we wouldn't have a boarder wait we could have pulled it off.

Thanks again to everyone who made this my best SOBB yet!
On Friday, Rip, Coolebreeze and myself rode all the way past the shipwreck and back down again to the river at Gearhart and back to base again.
It was a perfect park and fly, with only using slight fingertips on the brake lines all the way.....it was sweet!

I took these pics which I just had to post.
A picture says a thousand words.....;-)

The Application of the pink skirt.

Macboy flying in.

Cheers all

Todd - 7-9-2011 at 11:02 PM

Ughhh sitting here, whatching the weather station closest to Chambers Bay reading 8-10mph occasional gusts to 14. Why am I still at work?

Oh I know, need to pay off the kite I just bought on Tues! That makes 2 kites in 3 weeks, yeah I am on a  !!
:eekdrull::wee:

arkay - 9-9-2011 at 08:57 PM

I got to manzo late (was in PDX). Surf was HUGE, maybe 10ft on the outside. The first day this summer I was on my 7m. Sensor says 25/32 but it was clearly MUCH windier than that down here. How was it up at sunset beach today? The sensors by the shipwreck were saying 14W...

I'm safely back in Calgary thinking of the past week It was great to meet all of you and not get in your way too much:thumbup:

EDIT: put some photos here

Many thanks again for your hospitality and welcoming the Canadian crowd to miles of the best beaches in Oregon. Snowkiting up here is warmer than kiting in the fog down there so if you have the time and want to give it a try keep in touch.
