Tides & wetsuits - Sunset Beach

macboy - 26-8-2011 at 01:01 PM

I don't know if my inaugural visit to Sunset was during high tide or low tide (do you remember Bill?) but I'm thinking if it was high tide there must be gobs of shallow water for someone....say....still working on the kitesurf component of this kiting thing? I'm bringing the wetsuit anyway as I may or may not need it for the Gorge. Should I pack it near the top? And what / where are the tide cycles?

Speaking of salt water. If I do get wet, is there kite rinse facilities or do I need to be concerned keeping them wet and salty for a week as long as they get a good bath when I get home? I'm spoiled by freshwater.....

don't worry when you get home works, rinse suit daily, hang up . a wet kite is not what you want. harness, bar/ lines and board daily if available.. and fun continuously

last time was high tide... there's a decent amount of shallow but not a tun. It gets +waist deep pretty quick. You will likley want a wet suit. the water has been warm the past few weeks because of the southerly that came through and grought hot water (55-60F) but expect low 50s. You're suit will be fine. If it's salty itwon't dry much, but you just need a hose at buggy camp ;)

I hope I can get my 9 fixed this week... or maybe we'll have a PL to try out ;O

I hope the winds are right - the weather looks great. Can't wait to try out the wake skis...
