Speed Flying with Coyotes?

macboy - 29-8-2011 at 07:04 PM

Seems that Coyotes might be damn near brilliant married with a speed wing......

Might make landing easier  Wonder if that's Queenstown, NZ - looks like it ... looks like Tim's dog too :o and those hillsides will be lumpy as hell with tussock :o

You might be better off strapping a buggy to your bum

I've since done a bit 'o reading into the whole speedflying thing. I think the goal is to not be quite so close to the ground. Close yes.....but not THAT close that you'd want a couple wheels under you

It's on the list though. Right after....surprisingly enough.....paragliding. Thanks for the tandem temptation video Todd. I better play these cards carefully with the wife.

Talk to Tonya at SOBB !

She has been Speed Flying all winter. I think she will tell you Speed Flying takes previous paragliding skill?

She can teach you ! + Tandem you ! She will have her stuff with , no doubt !

:cool2:

I read about it too, and in most cases you have to have paragliding certification and some skills to go with it. Add to that some backcountry ski equipment and know how. Their chutes are much like ours. They have various sizes from 8 to 15 meters sq. They also have wings with various glide ratios. Sometimes you want really long glides and others very little like if you want to ski more than fly. I think I'd rather fly anyday and I've been skiing for 30 years.

This Gin wing looks exactly like Jaymz 14m Gin Eskimo kite

I am not sure why they name all theres kites ( yeti, zulu, eskimo ) same as names of theres paragliding wings ..... and now looks like they use exactly same color shames .....
..... anyhow ..... looks like lots of fun ...... time to search for someone who can take me for a ride ...... lol ....

I'm pretty sure that discoverparagliding will be out at Sunset Beach at some time. Great group.

heliboy50 - 30-8-2011 at 10:15 AM

Discover is out almost every day, weather permitting. Great people to work with. I can introduce you, if you'd like.

macboy - 30-8-2011 at 02:08 PM

Now THAT would be the way to ease into it - while I'm away on vacation and the wife has no idea I did it!

Bring it on, but don't kill me :Ange09:

If I don't find Tonya or Discover Paragliding make sure you throw a helmet at me and point me over to them.

heliboy50 - 30-8-2011 at 02:18 PM

Sunset approach, look south. You will see them. I will be out saturday, but unfortunately grounded due to injury. NOT kite or glider related.:flaming::flaming:

Nice finds! That's exactly what I was thinking. Of course they are using the wing more like a power kite for the most part but there was some "speed flying" in those.

What a spot too!
