2011 Fall WBB Role Call! Come on folks time to get stoked!

 Pages:  1

shehatesmyhobbies - 31-8-2011 at 03:16 PM

O.K., I know it is still a little more than a month out, but I can't hardly wait to hit the beach! Can the Wildwood Buggy Bash get here soon enough! In case you haven't heard the dates are Thur Oct 20th thru Sunday Oct 23rd. Of course you can come early and take advantage of a nearly empty beach! I know I will be. This year the fall bash looks to be larger than last year! Lots of new people coming. PL North America Rep., Ricardo will be attending as well as his play mate Dino Arias from Dakitez! PL ATB Team Rider Adam Bedinghaus will also be attending again! Time for another acrobatic air show! Especially now that he is looping that big Charger! PL Buggy Team Rider Todd Stevick will also be attending. We all know he always puts on a good show! Also Chris from HQ and Van from VTT will be attending.

I know a lot of new people are coming and I know they will be stoked once they see the beach and get to know all the people! This years attendance could possibly top last years fall bash!

I also know that the Pier is going to be open for a Halloween Fright Night both Friday and Saturday night. I have been told it is going to be good!

Don't forget to call and get your reservations at Shalimar resorts! There is a thread on all that info.
If you need camping info let me know, I will post the info!

See you guys soon!

martinipro - 1-9-2011 at 06:40 AM

I will definitely be attending.
I am planning on being there for 3 days.
What would be the "better" days to be there. Fri-Sun or Sat-Mon?

Thanks for the input.

shehatesmyhobbies - 1-9-2011 at 07:31 AM

I would say Friday thru Sunday. A lot of people start heading out Sunday afternoon. IMO.

ragden - 1-9-2011 at 07:37 AM

I would say it totally depends on the conditions. If Monday looks amazing, people will stay (those that can). Though it is more likely that people will be there Friday thru Sunday due to work obligations (easier to take Friday off than a Monday).

silvereaglekiter - 1-9-2011 at 07:54 AM

ill be in early in the week till Sunday. I'm ready to test out all the new parts to my buggy.

:Ange09:----is it October yet---:Ange09:

bobalooie57 - 1-9-2011 at 08:02 AM

+1 on the Fri.-Sun., though I hope to make the drive down on Thursday and return on Monday, If the wind is good I imagine Don will stay even longer! :D

flyguy0101 - 1-9-2011 at 08:04 AM

Martin- as raggden said depends on the weather but if you are planning on boarding as well as buggy then Monday is looking like the better day due to the tide times. Could be an issue on friday and saturday because low tide is so early in the am. Given that i am planning on staying through monday. fwiw
Scott

silvereaglekiter - 2-9-2011 at 07:00 AM

just scoping out Wildwood's official sight you guys picked a good week. Nothing else on the calendar but a hunted house on the boardwalk for the weekend
Quote:

Moreys Fears-Terror on the Boardwalk
Moreyメs Piers will host an epic Halloween event for the first time ever. Moreyメs Fears: Terror on the Boardwalk will transform Marinerメs Landing into a nightmare for six nights in October. Aside from dark incarnations of the Sea Serpent, SuperScooters, Tea Cups, Pirates of the Wildwoods, Rollieメs Coaster and Moby Dick, look for an especially traumatizing Ghost Ship experience as well as two frightening all-new Halloween attractions that will only be available during Moreyメs Fears. There will also be a twisted freak show and themed food and beverages.

Fri-sat sounds like fun.

Drewculous - 2-9-2011 at 11:32 AM

chudalicious - 2-9-2011 at 11:37 AM

WELDNGOD - 16-9-2011 at 02:31 PM

Hey Powerws , how long would it take to drive to WW? I live in Hampton Roads area VA ,and we drive up in4-5 hrs. Once you get a buggy (and you will), flying is gonna be problematic..... See ya there!:wee:

Powerws - 17-9-2011 at 05:28 AM

11 hours!:o I will determine which route to go and have the buggy shipped to me.

hiaguy - 17-9-2011 at 03:20 PM

after lurking around this board for a while and learning from y'all it started to bother me that i don't know any other kiters, so...

easy... getting time off work.
hard... getting o.k. from the boss (wife).
i got them both and will be at the shalimar on thursday evening.
i've never been to a kite event, and have never driven a buggy, but a call to don convinced me i needed to be there.
i'm totally stoked!

g00fba11 - 17-9-2011 at 04:20 PM

Hiaguy.... Glad to see another with permission from the real boss joining the fun.....

I am in the same boat always trying to learn something new. This will be my first event with the pro's.....

This will be one awesome weekend.....

Welcome and see you there......

rocfighter - 17-9-2011 at 05:40 PM

OK reservations made from Thursday till Monday. Just The Kidd and myself this time though. You guys will keep an eye on us so we don't get lost right??:wee:

shehatesmyhobbies - 17-9-2011 at 06:11 PM

Hey Dave just remind the kid that most of the time the wind blows towards the water in the fall, this way we don't have to pull him outta the drink! I have seen that boy fly his kite from his back! Can't wait to see you guys!

hiaguy - 17-9-2011 at 07:30 PM

Thanks g00fba11. Lookin' forward to meeting you there.

Plane? It'll be a ten-hour drive of dreaming about NABX! :wee:
(and smiling all he way I'm sure:-)

Which way to the beach?!

shehatesmyhobbies - 18-9-2011 at 10:30 AM

Dave I will have the camera ready!

Hiaguy, if you need directions, let me know, I can get you squared up as long as I know where you are coming from!
It might have been just a line, if not hit me up! I will make sure you get to the beach and you will be ready to hit the sky!:Ange09:

bobalooie57 - 18-9-2011 at 10:34 AM

N side of L. Ontario, if I got it right. Darn, you've quite a drive just to get into NYS! Will be great to meet some new Canadian friends!

hiaguy - 18-9-2011 at 01:51 PM

shehates:
Thanks for the offer but between google maps and my GPS I'm good. Besides, I think I've already done the drive in my head. It's no line; Whitby is about two hours from Niagara Falls, then it's an eight-hour run SE to the beach.

bobalooie:
You've got it right but I have no doubt that it'll be worth the treck. I've met a few kiters in my own neighbourhood, but they're few and far between.

Off topic (kinda): last February I took off to Vegas specifically to be in the wind (without family) for a couple of days. Had the pleasure of meeting Kent and I learned more in a few hours than in the rest of my kite-life (bought my first framed delta in 1989). Later met up with Kent, Brian and a couple of other local fliers and had a blast (and learned more)! Can't thank them enough. (Only downfall from that trip was the rain on my first day there that kept us away from the playa.)

flyjump - 19-9-2011 at 06:50 AM

TICKETS ARE BOOKED WHOOOP WHOOOOP! Thanks to van and the east coast crew for hooking it up.

Van, Chad, Scott, Danny, Rich....I know you guys pulled all the strings to get me out there, and i'm so happy. Epic riding coming your way!

flyguy0101 - 19-9-2011 at 07:01 AM

buggydanny - 21-9-2011 at 09:10 PM

hiaguy

There very well may be others from Ont. coming to the bash. Carpooling may be a good option for you, especially since you don't have a lot of gear yet and wont take much room.

I would u2u markite and see if he knows if any of the local are coming to the bash.

markite - 21-9-2011 at 09:33 PM

Going to do a sidetrack post (short one) to hiaguy
You are in Whitby! so close to where all the guys buggy down at the waterfront and over in Ajax - and then all of us from Toronto and westward. I'll shoot you a U2U
- back to Wildwood now.....

chris - 22-9-2011 at 08:07 AM

What winds should we be expecting for the bash?

I know winds are usually unpredictable, but from past experiences(From previous years WBBs) what kites are people usually flying? both for Kiteboarding and Buggying.
Also, I saw it looks like tides will not be perfect this year. Should I be looking at getting BF tires for the buggy? I know that will require a Wide front fork and axle as well.

rocfighter - 6-10-2011 at 04:55 PM

Dodd it will be great to see you there. Will you be bringing your blowcart as well?
