Wisconsin Area Meet Up

Midgaar - 1-9-2011 at 08:00 PM

I know there are a few of us in the WI/IL area so I would like to propose a small meet n greet while we wait for specifics on the Midwest event. I was thinking maybe the weekend of September 24th. The largest and most open field I know of is the Wauwatosa County Grounds.

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=&am...

It's the big field just south of the marker, that's also a small dirt path running along the west side of the field between the two buildings. If you look at the street view, the best flying spot is behind that small island of trees, on the mowed side. The county mows the grass every few weeks and the grounds are shared by dog walkers. Every time I've been there I've encountered about 1 dog walker an hour, give or take.

If anyone else has a different location I'm all ears!

Reply with availability so we can get a date with the best turn out.

Sounds great and willing to go, but as Todd can attest, my schedule isn't always kind to me.

What Midwest event are U refering to?

Midgaar, is this big enough space for buggies?

flyjump - 22-9-2011 at 07:17 PM

so you are going to springfield this saturday or wisconsin?
that's cool if you are going to the field that is at the beginning of this post

the field in the area that i fly in at springfield is going to be over run on weekends during sept/oct during the soccer season. it'll be a bust if you head down there

thanson2001ok - 22-9-2011 at 07:42 PM

Springfield trip is over Thanksgiving weekend I believe.

flyjump - 22-9-2011 at 07:52 PM

Yeah I know im organizing it lol. I just dist want you to get skunked by the massive amounts of soccer players

Chicagokitejumping - 23-9-2011 at 09:27 PM

Tomorrow raining ! and not wind ! we are not going...
for the people that want good wind for Buggies one of the best place is montrose Beach !!! with North East / North West / north Perfect wind

Midgaar - 27-9-2011 at 09:26 AM

This post and spot was something I was trying to put together for WI and surrounding area meet n greet. I canceled the formal meet up due to flyjump's Springfield meet up over Thanksgiving weekend. So people are not confused, this meet up is NOT flyjump's Springfield spot. This is county grounds in Wauwatosa, WI.

This spot is about 20 minutes from where I live so if anyone did want to make a trip to it I would be more than happy to meet up with you.

@thanson2001ok, Yes the field is big enough for a couple buggies at once. I would say it's close to the size of the soccer complex we were ejected from. Not nearly as "well kept" however. The field is mowed a few times a year so it could be freshly cut or 10" of grass. I hear it's wonderful once it snows and the lakes haven't frozen over yet.

Chicagokitejumping - 28-9-2011 at 08:06 AM

I know ! But i am trying to find a new spots , and Chicago is very close to this one ...
I ll send you an email if we going in the next 10 days if you want to come to ride with us there.

You are very close to Chicago , and Montrose Beach is the best that i saw in the area for landboards and buggy with North East ...i was surprise the quality of wind when arrived last year . Send us an email if you want to came here .
