Whoa! Already?

Compared to the Speed3 12, how much grunt does it have?

syuzhak - 4-9-2011 at 08:15 AM

It has little less grunt than a 12m Rebel which has just a little less grunt than a 15 Speed3. :wee:

How does it compare with the 12m Rebel for turning speed and gust handling? Sounds like your reaction to the Unity was kind of like my reaction to the Speed 2 19 I bought several years back. Had it out a couple of times and just wasn't impressed with it all. Fortunately for both of us, Flysurfers seem to hold their value pretty well and sell real easily (I'm sure someone will take your 12m muy pronto).

Funny you mention the Rebel, that kite's gotten a lot of favorable reviews here locally. I personally don't like 5th line kites, but I seem to be alone in that view. The Rebel's become the most popular kite here.

I honestly cant say enough good things about the Rebels...Ive flown most bow kites (Waroos, Cabrinhas, Slingshot) none of them have come close to the user friendliness, stability and all around use of the Rebels. I ride them in the waves strapless, and with a twin tip for big air and some wakestyle. Super lowend too....I get going with a 12m Rebel only 1kt later than with the 15m Speed3 with a surfboard of course. The downsides are the 5th line can wrap up in the waves, and some times the relaunch in very light winds is a bit technical due to lack of a bridle.

The Unity is built for a different use than the Rebel and the Speed3. It relaunches itself and almost auto-zeniths. The kite I can compare it to best is a PL Charger 12 with more grunt and tad less turning speed. I like the higher performance of the Rebels so thats why Im selling it.

And of course nothing beats the 21m Speed3!!!!

:shocked2: Oh man this should have been up a coupe weeks ago

didn't expect to see a Unity up here for quite some time yet......

bigkahuna - 4-9-2011 at 12:56 PM

@syuzhak - You're not the only fan of the Rebels, like I said, they've got a big following up here. That 5th line is the main reason why I'm sticking with my Bularoos. The other reason is that (if I recall correctly) the biggest size they make is a 14m, and the next kite I'm getting will be a 16m.

Oh snap, I want this kite so bad! Just can't afford it at the moment...

Sorry to be so far off topic but has anyone had much time on the Fuse (it is supposed to be a 4 line version of the rebel). I love the rebel but hate having a fifth line.

trade for a speed3 12m deluxe?

thanson2001ok - 12-9-2011 at 05:43 PM

What is it that you don't like about it?

Chicagokitejumping - 12-9-2011 at 10:17 PM

How is this kite compared to the speed3 12 going upwind ? How do you fell the release of the quicken loop in the bar 2.0 ? Is any better that the infinity 1

Thanks

syuzhak - 13-9-2011 at 01:03 PM

I prefer high performance kites...As I've said before the 12m Rebel gets all around better performance than the Unity. It simply is a kite that is in the same market as the Pulse. Catering to beginners and intermediates, who want a durable, simple, stable, easy to use kite.

It goes upwind well but again not like a Speed3 12m. Low aspect vs High aspect.

The Infinity Bar 2.0 is way better than the original. The swivel actually swivels and the rope is much thicker, and the whole mechanism is much smoother. The chicken loop releases exactly the same, but I felt that the chicken loop on the original was the best release, shame about the swivel mechanism though.
