Phantom GONE

shehatesmyhobbies - 6-9-2011 at 01:30 PM

WOW!

markite - 6-9-2011 at 01:46 PM

Hi Chad
I just want to clarify a little - a friend might be interested in bidding. Are you asking people to bid only as a complete package but then there is a chance you could pull the bar and lines out for some reason?? I didn't get the "break up parts" bit and want to make sure I pass along accurate info. and I know you are trying to be as up front as possible.
thanks

van - 6-9-2011 at 02:22 PM

I have a Spleene door but we will not be conversing ... hahaha :frog:

So starting bid is 99 cents , no reserve??

Chad - 6-9-2011 at 02:33 PM

Thx indigo for the pic help.
Markite yes I want to sell as RTF but i like to cover my back end.
I do not plan on a break up but if it were to happen I don't want any hard feelings

Van That's just mean lol

cheezycheese - 6-9-2011 at 02:45 PM

suppose two people have a matching high bid...? lemme know when you sell the 12m... :smug:

mougl - 6-9-2011 at 02:55 PM

Nice!

Chad - 6-9-2011 at 02:57 PM

I would like to see that happen first cheezy hehe

KAZEDOKA - 6-9-2011 at 06:08 PM

I'm sorry I still do not under stand ? would I be bidding and receiving a 9M Phanny RTF with all the accessories exactly as listed or will it be a surprise grab bag Possibly a Pansch - if the bidding is not up to par? or is this a inside joke or Hoax posting played on us newbies that can only dream of owning one?? No disrespect just not clear to me. Randy

Chad - 6-9-2011 at 06:27 PM

No joke just phanny lol

It will not go cheap just to be warned it is in perfect shape.

Drewculous - 6-9-2011 at 06:36 PM

do want!

Id bid, but I wouldnt win... Not saying id insult you, but I love negotiations.... Will ya haggle, or just say no?

Very gutsy.... I has respect!
:ninja:

Chad - 6-9-2011 at 06:55 PM

OK guys here it is.. Place a bid U2U, it is private so no one but myself will know what the bids are. i will not play games with people as I am just looking for the best price. Right now it is just about the money for me and I must say it is a mighty fine kite. If i didnt need the money I would not part with it as I am sure another one this nice will not come around so easily, but something else is calling my name and I need $green$. I know what I have in it and I already have some close numbers to that so I am sure it will go to some one by this weekend. Put in your bid and it might be you?

Thx
Chad

Most e-auctions.... two or more equal high bids and the win goes to the earliest time stamp.

Errr...ummm :puzzled: :puzzled: :puzzled:

How do you haggle on a blind auction?

Other ways to insure the high bid?

SQUIRREL!!!

pokitetrash - 7-9-2011 at 07:04 AM

Never fear guys... I'm gonna bid, but I don't think I have the funds to make Chad turn loose the 9 to me.... :megan::megan:

Too much on the financial plate this month. Crappy timing!!!

arkay - 7-9-2011 at 08:25 AM

My p15 wants mid 20s.. What wind does the 9 need??

Chad - 7-9-2011 at 11:02 AM

As I have never flown this kite I must rely on what i have read and heard so take it for what it is worth. 22-40mph is a good window(per peterlynn) but 20-30 would be more reliable and safe wind range above 30 I would drop to a 6m but thats just me.

g00fba11 - 7-9-2011 at 02:31 PM

I know how you feel.... I want to throw a bid down on this also but I have a another commitment and this is just bad timing for the state of funds at this time.....

To bad this wasn't listed in November...... after WWBB and other such fun.......

doneski - 7-9-2011 at 04:42 PM

Could you post what the winning bid was after this is over? I'd like to know what a 9 is worth.

flyjump - 7-9-2011 at 09:28 PM

He brought the phantoms to wwbb this spring, and like he said they are in amazing shape. Bid witj confidence, hes a great seller. I think if he even thoight of ripping someone off the entire easy coast kite crew would have his head

Chad - 8-9-2011 at 04:42 AM

Thx Adam! I am sure you are right about having my head.. I like to stay on the Honest side as I get a little upset :flaming: when people try or do screw me.
It makes me want to put them in the hospital but you know karma is a "Mean #@%$#!" and she does make it come back around.

To all,
Thank you for looking at buying this kite but no one is even close to the price I am looking for (other than one :smug: ). Most people are telling me that this is not the correct time to sell as the money is "tight" right now.
I will continue to sell the kite but I do not see it going anywhere this week? If you are interested in purchasing it in the near future just U2U me and we can talk. I will be at WBB and if it has not sold by then I will have it with me.

BTW the kite has the zippers in the middle not on the sides. Also the bar is a 40CM bar and the lines/bar are in new condition other than a small scratch on the carbon fiber.

Chad

Powerws - 8-9-2011 at 05:35 AM

Do they not make these kites anymore?

acampbell - 8-9-2011 at 05:41 AM

no, but they are coming out with the Phantom II first part of 2012.

Chad - 8-9-2011 at 05:42 AM

No they do not. The synergy replaced this kite

van - 8-9-2011 at 06:29 AM

chad .. here's a solution .. just give me the kite. See how much stress you just got off your chest?

Bladerunner - 8-9-2011 at 06:49 AM

I have it !

I will act as your broker. You can send the kite to me! I am willing to hold on to it and deal with offers.

Be SURE I will hold on for a price that is much higher than you will give in at ! :D

( Joking) or am I ?

g00fba11 - 8-9-2011 at 07:07 AM

@ Powerws - I believe this is the order of arc releases...... If I got it wrong someone please correct the order...... The Charger is the one in production right now....

S Arc
F Arc
Guerilla
Bomba
Guerilla II
Phantom
Venom
Vortex
Venom II
Scorpion
Synergy
Charger

DO
WANT
!!!!!

dylanj423 - 8-9-2011 at 02:49 PM

why dont you just post the price you want and see who might be willing to pay it?... i havent bid because i dont really like this type of sale, and i would be willing to bet there are others here that feel the same way... despite my long term lust for a 9m phantom, i wouldnt want to offer what might be an inflated value, and my first inclination in a sale like this is to go way too low to protect that...

what im sayin is, maybe if you post a price, you will get some more bites...

Chad - 8-9-2011 at 03:53 PM

Dylan, I like to see how people value their kites. It gives me an indication of how they plan on treating the kite (just me i guess). I know what I paid for this kite and I am sure most people think it is HIGH but not excessive or over inflated. I paid $500 and I am willing take that. I really do not want to get rid of it but I have a lot of over lap and the wind in my area does not get that high very often. The reason I did it like this was to give the people that know what it is worth and will respect it first dibs. If I just put out there (o' by the way I want 500 bucks) every one and their mother will ask to purchase it. So I chose to be a little secretive and see who was really interested. Low and behold know one really wanted to pay. the funny thing was 18M phantoms 6 months ago were a hot item and were fetching 450 + but a 9M is a lot harder to find in great shape and no one is even coming close. See I am not looking for bites, I want someone who really wants the kite thats more important to me.
:puzzled: Just says something?

Thx

Chad

shehatesmyhobbies - 8-9-2011 at 04:09 PM

Great way of looking at it for sure Chad, We all know these are becoming more rare by the day! Heck they don't even want to float them across the pond to us these days!

BeamerBob - 8-9-2011 at 05:40 PM

I'm not sure I agree with your assumptions about what you hoped to glean from the bids. I even explained this in my bid. There are probably 3 prices to consider.

What might I get it for?
What is it really worth?
What is an amount I'm sure would win me the auction?

My bid was somewhere between 1 and 2. Another interested party asked me what #3 was and I was within $25 of what you paid for it. You probably have 8-10 people giving you bids and yet probably only 1 that has approached what you are hoping for, if anyone got that high. So what I bid wasn't even quite what I thought it was worth and over $100 from what I thought it would bring from the 1 top paying bidder. I imagine most buyers except the most emotionally motivated bidder offered between (their) #1 and 2 like I did, and therefore didn't actually show how much they respected the kite. I think anyone sending you a bid knows what you have and highly respects how rare it is.

I think if you had asked for $525 right up front, that 1 emotionally motivated buyer would've paid your price and still would.

cheezycheese - 8-9-2011 at 11:44 PM

I paid $400 for mine. Kite only and COVERED in playa dust... I think your asking price for a RTF kit is quite fair...

cheezycheese - 8-9-2011 at 11:45 PM

I didn't even get a bag...

Chad - 9-9-2011 at 04:00 AM

BB it just so happens that you were the one person that I was talking about that came close?
I only received 3 u2u and you were the highest but I was asking for a private bid , meaning the highest you would go and feel comfortable. As it is a private bid you only get one bid? So my assumption is you gave your highest. We all have our little quirks. Sorry I just wanted to try something new to put a little spin on trying to be a little more fair. This does tell me a lot even if other people don't see it. I respect your opinion as everyone is raised different. From the time I took off the bidding I have had three times the offers and all above what I paid. So now the question is how to determine the one who gets it? I can go by highest pay, first come first serve, or just pick my favorite? This is what I was trying to eliminate but failed in my attempt.

Chad

van - 9-9-2011 at 07:38 AM

Chad .. you are hard headed .. I told you the solution is just give it to me for free .. no hassle with highest bidder ;-)

Chad - 9-9-2011 at 07:45 AM

Van if I thought you could use it I would have but you know you don't get that kind of wind down there. Lol

van - 9-9-2011 at 07:48 AM

hehe .. we do get high wind but I'm too scare to use the phanny in that kind of wind ...haha . The 10m Scorpion already kick my butt last time.

BeamerBob - 9-9-2011 at 08:17 AM

Hmmm. I figured there would be 5 or more bidders above my price. I even said that in my bid. You could also be dealing with timing. Many times when I've been selling a kite, it sells in hours, and other times with what I consider a very desirable kite at a great price, nothing. It lays there for days or weeks because of potential buyers financial situation. As rare and desirable as a 9m phanny is to many people, most people don't have a need for that kite and might use it once a year, and would be scared to go out when they needed it.

I guess you would just go with the highest bidder, and solve ties with first to submit.

arkay - 9-9-2011 at 09:23 AM

I'll give you 750... RTF & with bag :D

That's me... Not so much the scared part but (well ok a little...) I'll wait for a well loved 9 with life left in it. I'm not particular about the condition because I'd only use it once in a while so I won't be wearing it out on grass 3 or 4 times a year at best.

Looking_Up - 9-9-2011 at 04:22 PM

Wow I am interested in your thought process on this chad I spent the money thqt would have won this kite on stuff for the gun hobby because I figured I couldn't afford the high bid on a rare 9 m phany but my market value was way over yours in that condition rtf I figured the low end would be 650 the kite is worth 500 by its self and the high should have been 8 or 8.5 but I guess I was just going off of the legend of this kite I still think my price estements are fair market value and am only disappointed that I now can't buy your kite good luck with a sale :bigok:

g00fba11 - 10-9-2011 at 09:12 AM

@Chad.....

Why don't you have a drawing for the kite at WWBB......

Everyone interested can toss 5 bucks in along with their entry....... All the names can go to the PL reps on site so they can draw the winner at the BBQ???? Big PR for you and PL....... Hell of a good video to post up when that is done........

Make it exciting......

You should easily get the amount you need for the kite..... and lots of happy guys get a crack at it!!!!!

Fine print rule
*enter as often as you like.... need not be present to win..... if your not present shipping cost will be your responsibility

BeamerBob - 10-9-2011 at 09:23 AM

It is sinking in now that I had the high (and early) bid and yet don't get the kite. :wow: Bummer. Not that I'd have a need or respect for a 9m Phantom on Ivanpah though.

dylanj423 - 10-9-2011 at 11:54 AM

i say sell it to beamer bob... he really needs to round out that collection... and besides the fact, was was high bidder, right??

BeamerBob - 10-9-2011 at 01:57 PM

dylan, I agree completely! I would basically have a phantom to fly in any wind except for the 40+ winds and I'll have to advance before even being willing to go out in that.

Chad - 10-9-2011 at 02:16 PM

Well actualy arkay has the high bid and two others under him but all want time. No one wanted to play by the rules so the rules left the room. :ticking:
As stated in the beginning it was not going to be about first come first serve just money.
You guys are too much fun.... :wee:

Chad - 10-9-2011 at 04:08 PM

Goof,

That could be entertained? How many people would be up for that?

BeamerBob - 10-9-2011 at 04:46 PM

So now that my high bid didn't get it, and Arkay's new high bid didn't get it, it's a whole new game again? I get it now! You're jockeying for one of those reality tv shows.............. right?.............. Barring that, it ought to just be marked sold and shipped somewhere or taken off the market. I don't like that I've been a pawn in this game now.

g00fba11 - 10-9-2011 at 05:12 PM

Chad...... all you need to do is get 25 guys to buy 4 tickets each........ or 50 guys to buy 2 tickets each.... to break even....... anything else is gravy......

Then we role cameras at WWBB and have ourselves a Phanny Show at the BBQ!!!!

You can list the names of the entrants on PKF (name only not how many entries they purchased) .........

I'd be in for 2 tickets........

Midgaar - 10-9-2011 at 05:16 PM

I'd jump on 3-4 tickets. Not being present would have to be in the fine print though.

Chad - 10-9-2011 at 06:00 PM

BB I understand that you are a little upset that you are a pawn in this game but I spelled it out up front in crayon. You made your bid and others bid more but asked for some time to pay. I have hid nothing but Identities of all the bidders except you. BTW arkey only wanted KO and put that price up to stir things up! I keep getting bids as I said I would try to make a decision by the end of the weekend. How ever no one liked the idea of a private bid and only wanted to know what I wanted to sell it for so yes, that changed the rules. now everyone wants to haggle WTF? You only see what is posted not the behind the scenes offers and comments so I am sorry but you have no basis for being upset or hurt in any way. You were only the high bidder for one full day due to the other bidders that were much higher who wanted me to keep it for 1 to 2 months before payment. Now these are people I can trust but I am trying to sell it now? Yes there were lower bidders that would pay now However I will not sell it for less then 500 to any one. Any kite sale on this forum is like gambling, You have to take a chance to win even if you end up loosing it to someone else. I can only say I am sorry you feel that way! truly!

goof: We (I) will just consider this kite as sold and end the sale before it continues out of control :dunno:

Really am sorry guys, Tried something new and it failed...:barf:

flyjump - 10-9-2011 at 06:10 PM

wait.....so did you take the kite off the market chad, or did somebody buy it?
