blade vip

what is this kite like? I've been looking at the twister IIr 7.7 and i was wonder if the extra money will be worth it in the end?

The Blade is a more "violent" kite than the Twister. Surges in power are more abrupt and intense. The Twister will surge up relatively smoothly, while flying the Blade is like being tied to the back of a truck with the driver gunning the engine and popping the clutch. Some adrenaline junkies may like that.

haha it just seems like people talk about the blade as if they are these incredible kites.

They are indeed incredible kites. Delightful in light air. But get a gust and hold on tight and check your arm sockets afterward.

I'm going to launch my blade VIP tomorrow for it maiden flight (weather permitting). I have spent a great number of hours on a twister II before. I'll give a write up on my impressions :)

...wow.... pretty good!

ive had my vip out in too low of wind... and too high... no sweet spot yet... the too low, was kinda like a big teddy bear. you can feel this nasty potential, but it seems so docile. where as too high, man just mean! It'll toss you around at a moments notice... but being an 8.5m, it sets you down nice and smooth if you work it right.

Ive easily brole personal bests on the atb for speed with the the Vip on grass..... the thing just goes.

the twister, is awesome... its the cool cousin. he buys you a beer, introduces you to a cute chick, and loans you his car. The blade.... that guy from work.... makes you slam a 5th of jack, takes you drag racing, locks you in the closet with his sister...

Both nights were fun, lmao! Just what ride do you want to take?

Drew, you and Angus both nailed it. And to second Angus, the 6.5m Blade IV I had was probably the most perfect fixed bridle kite I've ever flown, it just isn't perfect for everything. It's the only kite I've ever regretted selling even though I don't have great opportunity to use it. I posted a sort of review on it when I first flew the one I borrowed from tridude. I bought one a few months later.

+1 sir.

<3<3 the twister
I do wish I had a 6.5 blade <it seems I always have perfect blade conditions
but boy does that TW5.6 dance in anything over 5mph
It's great that it was forgiving enough to teach; but now with a little more flight time I can say to myself "alright time to go for it". It's a huge confidence builder and a great starter kite(if you got the nads to be given your spankings).
:wee::wee::wee:

This isn't your first serious kite though right??
I thought about the 7.7 initially and praise god everyday I thought better of myself

Why not just go with a 6.5? It'll have way more appropriate wind range and... Jesus. hornet to blade vip?

thanson2001ok - 8-9-2011 at 12:14 PM

You guys have me stoked, especially after reading BB old thread, "Blade is King." I have a pristine Blade IV 6.5m on handles AND bar incoming. Should be fun.

dandre - 8-9-2011 at 12:29 PM

BASTARD.

I want a vintage blade so bad.

I couldn't justify buying one for the two months I'd be home in maryland
