Andrew over at FoilZone (at this link) made a comment on the Matrixx thread that I posted about the air inlet valves in regards to line shrinkage on the Matrixx in light of the
lack of a mixer adjuster, that his HQ Neo I has not experienced line shrinking.
I've noticed on my HQ Hydra that I've put it though some really high winds with my 180 pounds and the lines do not show any signs of shrinkage.
Is line shrinking a distinctively Flysurfer malady? If not, how would a kite like the Matrixx address line shrinking issues?

Lines getting stretched out.... happens. Shrinkage?!?! That would strike me as odd.
Could it be the case of say something like the "power lines" getting stretched making it seem like the brake lines had "shrunk"?
Otherwise..... :puzzled:

Actually shrinkage on FSers is more common and problematic than stretching.
John explained the shrinkage to me when I met him, I only vaguely recall but I think it was something about one side of the line running repeatedly
over the rings / pulleys. The weave on that side compresses and eventually the whole lot shrinks. All you need to do it anchor on end of the line and
stretch them back out. John says you'll know when it's "locked" down again....as in stretched out enough. He figures once a year should be plenty for
most kiters. I think tips with a tendency to curl in is the initial indicator.indigo_wolf - 19-9-2011 at 02:05 PM
That makes a bit more sense.
Found this on the Kiteforum:
"That the sparepartlines shrink, is normal. They're made under tension."

There aren't any ring-lines on the S3 21 or the Unity I believe ...BeamerBob - 19-9-2011 at 08:28 PM

TMI mi amigo...................
ring lines mainly on th FSer for shrinkage........when this happens I restretch the line. Mixer lines usually wear out before the shrink out of
tolerance.
