a day at Floyd Bennet Field...

cheezycheese - 4-10-2011 at 11:14 PM

this past sunday, i had the pleasure of riding with Jaymz and Kober out at Floyd Bennet Field. we had gusty choppy, sometimes non-existant wind but we made the best of it and had a good time.
Dont worry guys the CHEEZEBALL RALLY is still on, probably in November. but we needed a Pre-WW primer...
Anyways, here are some pics courtesy of PHOTOMATT....

launch assist

Kober and that pretty Gin...!!!

looks fast sittin' still...!!!

Core 6.7 out of commision...:no::no:

Jaymz ready for action...!!!

man those Gin's are sweet lookin kites....

pre-flight inspection

lookin down at me... got my eye on you Focker !!!

well the day was not without incident... Jaymz and I tangled kites and Jaymz took a little spill... he couldn't have slid more than 5-8 feet

as mentioned earlier my Core 6.7 is down temporarily. it sustained a little bridle damage in the mix up, but Jimmy's pads got the worst of it...
Floyd Bennet Field is VERY unforgiving...!!!

I forgot to mention, we were joined by PKF newcomer Mike Dobbs. Mike is a local out of Long Island NY. He made great use of a Rush pro on Sunday. And his ole' lady even took a ride in the buggy...
Hopefully they will join us in WW...

awesome time with that gusty winds.....lol..... something new to learn ..... You have to use different technique to get going at asphalt at been continuously powered....
Mike did amazingly for his second time on buggy !!!!!!
Thanks Mark for meet up and posted photos ......

Incident #2 ..........

Thanks for the pics Marc. And thank God for pads! That tarmac is ROUGH. That was a 5' slide. Can't imagine a 30mph OBE. Might wear the motorcycle race leathers next time...with the Coyotes.
Surface ate up some tread on the barrows also.

Had a good time till the storm came out of nowhere soon after you left. Wind went from 8mph to 20+ in seconds with the 11m Gin up. Plucked me right out of the bug and somehow ended up on my feet. At zenith and full depower I was leaving the ground. We packed everything up in a downpour. Thanks for the help Kober

Mike was really doing well with that Rush Pro 250 (2m?) Even going UPWIND when it filled in. I swear he has a BIG magnet in his car tracking him ;-)

Marc, Post the Cheezy date and we will come. Maybe they will too

Glad you guys had a good day. We were a few hundred miles north and flew kites, buggied, and hiked-camped in the rain the whole 5 days!! Good thing were all odd folks!!

Hey CheezyCheeze, Kober and Jaymz. It was great meeting all of you and getting a chance to ride the buggy!

I got a chance to get my Montana V 7m out yesterday. Beautiful day, very little wind (and from the wrong direction), but first time with that kite so just getting on the buggy made it an awesome day! Pics at: http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10150838220195346.7...
