Does the tide affect the width of the hard pack? Will barrow tires suffice?
centex_buggier - 29-10-2011 at 07:48 PM
Wheel barrows will do fine. Many folks don't have bigfoots and there is always plenty of hard pack to be found. Sometimes there can be some soft stuff
to get through between camp and the beach front, but it's usually not that bad.
The best hard pack usually follows a tropical storm tide and since there haven't been any this year, I doubt tide will have a big impact. Tide swings
are usually only a couple of feet.
If we get some rain before the event then that will help some.

You'll be too busy making friends to care about the tides...haha.
I have a big foot buggy reserve for you so just come on down and enjoy the food.

Met Van at East beach Sunday morning .winds se at 12 -16 mph. Parked at the west entrance, took a run to rock groin toward Stewart Beach..3 miles down
3 miles back. gps still on ran to south jetty,,1 mile .. 2nd run with Van, got to the rock groin and winds shifted to due east..struggled getting back
..around 30 + minutes .ask Van about his Sunday morning gulf of Mexico bath due to the dog that apparently does not like kite buggys . Made a move
closer to the south jetty as to traverse the Galveston channel side on the east wind. Finished the day with 34.5 miles logged in the buggy, top speed
26 mph..Beach was very clean. One mushy spot on the east end...big foots ,little bog down..burrows lot ta bog down. All in all , beach in great
shape..if conditions hold, should be a Great DBBB year..HK

Thanks Herb. I'm looking forward to it. Sounds like plenty of hard pack to be found. See you in just over a week.

I went to the first entrance @ surfside last tuesday and i had never seen so much hard pack in my life.
The soft sand line was about 15' away from the dunes. I was on the water for about 4 hours straight the conditions were so good.:singing:
conditions were SE (dead on-shore). 15-17mph
I did do a little bit of landboarding but when the water is clear like it was last week, its hard to not get in.
