Almost 50% of shark attacks occur in water waist-deep or less.

I worry more about stepping on broken glass at our spot. Kober got it good this summer. 13 stitches.
Stepped on quite a few blueclaw and horseshoe crabs. The blueclaws pinch. Gives me the creeps.
Finally getting better so spending more time ON the water then IN the water ;-)

That's the one good thing about surfing the great lakes - wind and and conditions can be all over the place but not really anything in the water to worry you. First time I went to Cuba it was freaky surfing the clear water and all kinds of shapes and shadows and who know what. Every time I sat back on my ass I was expecting to get grabbed by something and I was constantly thinking of an escape plan - stupid sea monsters!

Wot, no Giant Octopus versus Mega-shark?

PHREERIDER - 4-11-2011 at 05:21 AM

i never really think about "being taken"

but every now and then a breaching whale helps u adjust your scope .

jelly's/man o war and the algae blown that burns ur eyes in the spring ...very real.

Seanny - 4-11-2011 at 07:47 AM

Man-o-wars will wreck your #@%$#! :o be careful!

i think we must be lucky, not having clean water to smurf in, as youll be lucky to see anything. but when i do get out in deeper water, i get abit weary if i see anything splash thats not a wave!!

I remember AJ saying one time that he accidentally wore his polarized glasses out for a water ride and swore he would never do that again since he was able to see all that was swimming under him. Of course this is the same guy that cruised up behind a shark and grabbed his dorsal before thinking better of it and moving along.
