PL 12m ish

OmniSmurfZ - 10-11-2011 at 11:25 AM

I'm not too anxious to get one right away so I can bide my time for the right kite/deal, but at the moment I have a 19m venom and a 15m phantom. They are both nice, but they seem to have a small wind window for me to use. And the days where I have time to get out there are few and far between so if its then too windy and I have to call it a day its rather disappointing. I have a pl zero7 control bar so id like something that would work seamlessly with that.

I've got a Synergy 12 for sale ...

OmniSmurfZ - 11-11-2011 at 04:52 PM

I know and a synergy would be awesome! Having all different ones so I could get a feel for everything. I'm just too cheap to spend that much when I've already spent so much and I just started this past summer... maybe I just need to wait Idk.

BeamerBob - 11-11-2011 at 05:24 PM

Not to take you away from Kamis kite, but that 10m synergy that just popped up would also be a great compliment to your 15 with not as much overlap as the 12 and 15 will have. I've owned a 12 syn and currently have a 10 syn and a 15 phantom.

OmniSmurfZ - 12-11-2011 at 09:15 AM

The thing is that my bar is 60cm, so i thought 10 would be hard with it over 12... Although 10 would be a better spacer amount.

BeamerBob - 12-11-2011 at 11:27 AM

You could fly the 10 with a 60 but it wouldn't be ideal. You can avoid oversteering it by putting your hands in the center of the bar. I do that even with a short bar because in the buggy you aren't cranking it all over the sky, just sining the kite for power but that's a gentle motion.

I fly my 10 on the 60cm bar. I move my hands closer to the center as BeamerBob describes. The kite turns very fast and is a little getting used to but works fine. It may not be ideal unless you don't mind a fast turning kite. I love that setup for surfing.

G00f has a small 07 bar that would work if you can get him to sale it with out the 8m charger

OmniSmurfZ - 12-11-2011 at 12:51 PM

Yea thats what I heard, I probably would be alright... That 10m comes RTF too anyways right? Forgot which one you were talking about.. So comes with bar n stuff anywho?

Feyd - 13-11-2011 at 04:33 AM

Yeah Goof is selling his '07 bar set up. He's selling it seperate or as a RTF deal with his 8m Charger.

I think he's selling the bar for $150. (based on the price diff in the RTF/nonRTF prices.)

Update:Looks like Goof sold the bar.

We are actually trading 07s. My 60 cm for his little short one he bought from me with the 8m V II (then I bought back again) He needed a long one and this short one will work with my 8 or 10m.

Would be a good filler eh? For futures sake I'll have a smaller bar too if I wanted to get a smaller KO deal.

elnica - 22-11-2011 at 10:56 AM

Venom has a lower aspect ratio than the phatom so I think you would have a lot of overlap. I would think the venom 13 would be almost the same as the 15 phantom. I dont own either so I don't speak from experience on their wind ranges, but I'm sure someone else can chime in on that. Here is a link with info on projected areas:

http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/mx5alan/arcs/ARCsetup_FAQ.htm

Phatom 15 = 9.5 projected area
Venom 13 = 9.1 proj area
venom 19 = 13.7
Synergy 10 = 6 projected area

you can also alter the projected area by making the lines longer/shorter...

OmniSmurfZ - 22-11-2011 at 11:38 AM

Oh... Hmmmm well thats some good information, thank you! Although I don't know if I can pass up a deal for a very nice kite, bar, lines, bag, VII for 300. I wasn't just looking for something to expand my quiver, but for other people I bring out kiting to use as well. Id like to take my GF out with me or a friend and having a full 2nd setup would be very nice for those situations, and having the smaller bar would allow me to migrate to a smaller kite is just another awesome bonus.

But using the wind range calculator (http://www.kite-fantastic.co.uk/articles/mx5alan/arc-wind-ra...)

It says V19 : 5-12, P15 : 6-16, VII13 : 7-22

Similar note, anyone have a harness they're looking to part with? =P
