GoPro 1080HD steal of the week take II

Todd - 19-11-2011 at 05:06 PM

1 GoPro 1080HD with case containing both open and waterproof backing. Superb shape with battery, cord and attachments delivered to you for $188 in the lower 48 states. Comes with extra mounts and the Moto suction cup mount on your car while going through the drive through  I'll even toss in a 16g card and extra battery to get you going as soon as it arrives. Time to upgrade to the HD2!

I'd jump on this but apparently I don't have a computer that can edit the video I've done so far. Still working on getting my first vid out the door.

Todd - 19-11-2011 at 05:29 PM

Well come on Bob we want to see that video! (holding candle) My name is Todd and I'm a kite videoaholic  No worries, I have two more to go so would you like for me to hold you one?

I know it works too Bob! I've watched a couple of his videos! Even starred in a couple!

I have a problem getting the video out of the house right now. I've got a few hours stored up already but only I can see them. Still working on it. New computer time? Windows 7?

I think it may be a case of PEBKAC......

If your running some old archaic version of windows it is......

I can give you the address of my FTP site and you can upload it and I can do the edits and get it published for you.... no problem.... be happy to help out a friend!!!

Nice rig. Quick sale!

Who can give newbies a quick overview of video gear basics. Camera choice. Editing hardware and software needed? Maybe a separate thread if too much of a veer.

We need a video section on this board for sure. Start up a new thread on the subject and I'll be sure to add info!

I just bought one on Thursday....damn.... I already have video from the kite, from the axle, from the Helmet, and from the front fork. But the footage is not that exciting so I will consider it just a test at this point. I have 3 CCd Cameras, but prefer to use my zoom Q3 which I used on the Buggy in the Park video, and now the GO PRO. I will be using both to make a fun video when I get to DBBB on Tuesday. One thing I am not crazy about is the fish bowl effect so IMO, the Go pro is not really a main camera but will will work great with Areal shots and specialty shots.

I use a macbook pro with Final Cut Pro 4. something...FCP doesnt like MP4 so you have to convert it with a free download converter MPEG Streamclip, but it is free and easy to use.

I have experience with Pinacle which is fine and easy to use, along with Movie maker and I-movie. For no nonsense easy videos these IMO or good enough and very consumer friendly. I have had a lot of digital editing programs over the years, but IMO, Final Cut Pro is the easiest and quickest to learn and use. Hope that helps.

Todd,
Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving...I have a brand new Mac (2 months old) If I was to purchase this item, what additional things would I need to get (software) to start editing and posting movies etc. Also would you take paypal?
thanks,
Bruce

Software list

Check your computer for IMovie software that might already have been installed. After that looks to me like Final Cut Pro X is software that would do the trick but $299 OUCH! Hopefully some other MAC users will chime in here to help me out.

U2U has been sent as well.

bigkahuna - 27-11-2011 at 07:47 PM

Mac's come with iMovie which is more than good enough to get you started. Final Cut Pro is a top of the line editor, you really won't need that to just create videos for Youtube and PKF.

MikeDobbs - 28-11-2011 at 06:45 AM

All Mac's will have iMovie installed- since yours is new it will have the newest version which has some very cool effects and capabilities built in.

If you outgrow iMovie, you can always bump up to final cut express (cheaper than pro version) which is a very capable video editor- but I'd be surprised if iMovie doesn't do what you're looking to do.
