I will be going home to Calgary for Christmas and am looking to meet up .
I will be there Dec 22 - 28 . This allows me Dec 23 , 24 and 27 as open days. Dec 26 I can kite locally but have a dinner to attend.
Does anybody from Edmonton want to meet up on one of those days 1/2 way ? Maybe Sylvan Lake like last year?
Calgary folks please let me know what works and I will catch up !

Wish I could make it but on call. You'll have to make it up to our big lake. The pressure ridges are awesome ramps and you'll never run out of room.

All of those days will work for me. Hope to get you out to Spray Lakes this time too. 
Hope the weather cooperates, only the shallow lakes (LDA & Slack Slough Red Deer) are frozen so far, and we just lost Calgary snow cover but
Edmonton still has lots. Today winds gusting to 90 kph and a balmy 12C
Looking forward to getting together again soon.

I'll put the 27th at top possibility, 23rd could do but I'll have to make sure my shopping is done

Sounds good .
Lets try and do Sylvan or area on the 27th then. Only reason not at least meet up will be road conditions. Not keen on taking tooo big of chances with
my Sisters car.
Lets try and hit Spray on the 23rd or 4th Canuck !

We have enough snow on the sports fields in Calgary to get an edge on skis or a board but the weather has been pretty mild so all the lake activity I
have heard of so far is on Spray, LDA, Vermillion Lakes, and Red Deer Lake (aka Lloyd Lake south end of Range Road 21 off Hwy 22x near Spruce
Meadows). Don't know if Sylvan, Ghost, Cochrane, or Chesteremere are safe yet but I have driven past Slack Slough on the south end of Red Deer and it
looks like it should be good for a session.

Woop Woop !
3 days planned then. Dec. 23 , 24 in Calgary area . Very interested in Deer Lake.
Dec. 27 is still on for a Calgary + Edmonton meet up at Sylvan lake area !
with 3 days planned we are sure to get 1 ? :duh:
P.S. SO sorry you won't make it Wolfee. I was sure you would bounce back and still expect you to ! It just takes longer at our age.

Merry Christmas all! Just wanted to bring this to the top. Not a lot of snow up in these parts. Any reports from southern spots?

Hmmm
There is still some snow here ! Bill has turned me on to a great spot 10 minutes from my Sisters.
My wind killing powers are hard at work. Managed to shut down a Chinook single handed yesterday .
Poor wind at Spray lakes didn't know what to do with me so blew in circles. :dunno:
Are you still sure you want to meet up ?

I am still thinking we should try to meet around Red Deer. Sylvan Lake might still be a go - ice fishers report 7" of ice at the north end on Dec 14th. We won't be driving on it but can launch from the
lake public skating rink area. I'll try to find out more. Slack Slough south of Gasoline Alley will be short runs if the wind forecast is accurate (W
6kt gusting 22kt until about 3PM or when BR charms it away 
)

I uploaded my tracks to Google Earth - always humbling to see what I thought were long legs but a total of 22km is just a tiny spot on that lake.
