Well, I don't know quite what to do. Nominations are due, but I don't know who to nominate. I would like to see the current officials get to do
great things, but I realize that these positions come with responsibilities that are difficult in day to day life. A lot of folks have had a tough
year, and their energies have been focused elsewhere, and rightly so. Since g00fball showed the most interest, you wanna be pres? First, to qualify,
you must have harrassed someone, or shacked up within the last measurable lifetime... haha! Bobshehatesmyhobbies - 29-11-2011 at 01:06 PM
I have been pondering this for a few weeks now Bob! I want to see NAPKA continue to grow!thanson2001ok - 29-11-2011 at 01:57 PM
I think g00f should be on the ballot. Anyone else?
Rich, you want a nomination?Chad - 29-11-2011 at 02:11 PM
I think Rich and G00f both would be great people to nominate. :eureka:g00fba11 - 29-11-2011 at 03:08 PM
surely you jest...... I don't think anyone wants a knuckle head on the ballot.......
just ask beamerbob...... I'm not the elected official type..... shehatesmyhobbies - 29-11-2011 at 03:28 PM
I would not mind at all being more involved, just not sure at what level I would fit in. There are many others with much more NAPKA experience than
myself for sure. I have some ideas which I have expressed to some NAPKA members and talked to Morrie yesterday about the same thing. A club like NAPKA
is much more important than some would think. Beaches and other riding areas are disappearing and becoming off limits to the traction kiting world. We
all need to become more involved. IMO of course. I know elections are coming soon and Susan needs some names for the nominations!
So throw some more names out there!g00fba11 - 29-11-2011 at 04:16 PM
..... but as Rich states..... NAPKA is needed now more than ever with riding spots disappearing and becoming harder to find......
I still think we should merge NAPKA onto PKF similar to the NABX and other event sections......
It would be more accessible and more up front for folks to check out..... IMHO......Morrie Williams - 29-11-2011 at 04:40 PM
I've talked to PKF (Bob Childs) and NAPKA's name has been added to the "clubs" area to be activated in the future.shehatesmyhobbies - 29-11-2011 at 04:46 PM
Good deal Morrie!flyjump - 29-11-2011 at 08:03 PM
even though i'm not a member of napka yet, i'd like to nominate Rich miller and Buggydanny. both are great ambassadors for the sport and are great
with people. Danny has put so much time into powerkiting and has a longlasting knowledge base. Rich is great with organizing people and events.
Both would be awesome dudes and getting things donetridude - 29-11-2011 at 08:26 PM
agree Adam......................If the southeast needs any help I would be glad to..........................we have been lucky not to loose access but
could use a dose of education for land base disciplines.....................I do attend Sulivans Island town council meetings each spring to show
support for our activity and to ensure the council that self-policing in the areas of compliance and safety are being upheld. I am also an active
member of the Charleston Kiteboarding Association. We ensure the kiting community are aware of any changes to the kiting guidlines set forth by the
local town councils. We do this threw email contact and face to face briefings on the beaches...................................pokitetrash - 30-11-2011 at 04:52 AM
Dumb question: When did NAPKA drop the "R" ? :duh:Bladerunner - 30-11-2011 at 07:46 AM

It was about 2 years ago. The original insurance was set up to support buggy racing events. Things kind of morphed and when the insurance was changed
to cover all kite events and be fully inclusive dropping the R only made sense.
This was a big advantage to the kite community as a whole. Being able to join in on all the hard work that had been done by the buggy race group.pokitetrash - 30-11-2011 at 07:56 AM

How about you, Rich!shehatesmyhobbies - 2-12-2011 at 07:50 PM
I guess I have been considering the possiblity Morrie! I have some ideas that I expressed to you. If you think we can get something done, maybe it's
worth a shot.Morrie Williams - 2-12-2011 at 09:08 PM

Hopefully we can get something started up here in the midwest..... I am waiting to hear from Morrie on that.... I know both myself and thanson2001ok
are NAPKA members without club association......
I think either thanson2001ok (Todd) or myself would be willing to go in on a club rep nom........
I will email in a second also for Rich and Danny..... Pres and 1st Vice Pres.... but I do think they are covered......Morrie Williams - 6-12-2011 at 04:56 PM
Hey g00f: Go ahead with club #21. Once a hard and fast scheme is in place, we can always re-number. Is this to be the Storm Chasers Kite Club?
What area will it cover, Wisconsin & ???g00fba11 - 6-12-2011 at 06:02 PM
Sounds good..... Club 21 - Storm Chasers Kite Club.....
Unless there are objections I thought maybe to cover the upper midwest?????
North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri, Wisconsin, and Illinois. And maybe our Canadian brethren directly north of
the bordering states????
I think that the Kite Jam is Central to these state as well as some of the other outings some of us have talked about......
Maybe something up around Mile Lacs as a winter outing...... There is lake Winnebago in WI.
I know I have seen some kiters on the forum that fly in Iowa..... events there would make for a good central location.......
Just tossing out ideas...... I would like to see a traveling event where a local member from each state sponsors the event.
Let's call it .... Midwest Mobile Madness just as a for instance..... this event would move state to state.... it could be an annual or bi-annual
event..... it could rotate through the 6 best wind locations in these states..... just something to shake it up.... move it around..... expose more
people......
Just thinking out load..... sorta..... let me know what you guys think..... I should also copy this to the club thread..... oh well.....thanson2001ok - 6-12-2011 at 08:27 PM

I'll help cheer lead. And help with event organization.g00fba11 - 7-12-2011 at 07:29 AM
I need a NAPKA member to send in a second on this..... por favor.....

Okay, you're all set. Manitoba and Ontario already have a club number.
Good Luck!shehatesmyhobbies - 7-12-2011 at 11:59 AM
Goof you are on a roll! Keep up the good work!g00fba11 - 7-12-2011 at 12:15 PM
Thanx Rich..... but the roll hasn't started until we get some NAPKA members other than myself and thanson2001ok over here and on the rolls......
I think I here them playing that song......
come on guys..... spend a little get a lot.... help get this going..... it will fly or fail based on you all....... or is that y'all......
let's change our tune..... are we flyers or cryers..... .......
just think..... join NAPKA...... be in "the" club..... we hold "events" .... everyone's welcome.... we recruit new flyers..... we have insurance
coverage.... WOW.....shehatesmyhobbies - 7-12-2011 at 02:46 PM
Even if it just the two of you to start, it is worth it!
I think that once explained the benefits of being part of NAPKA, people will join your group! This needs to happen all over. There is already a
shortage of places you can play without someone calling the police or rangers. Show the public that you are a responsible pilot, more people will
welcome you!g00fba11 - 7-12-2011 at 06:00 PM
Hey Rich.... I agree. But the bigger the group.... the bigger the fun.....
Hudson has a kite festival. I think I will see if I can recruit thanson2001ok, midgaar and my son to do a demo when that comes up
Some of my son's Xcountry friends want to try it now that they see pics of him up on the Peter Lynn site.....
I think my son will also be a big help along those lines..... Is there an age limit on being a NAPKA member????
The MN Kite society has a demo during the Hot Air Affair in Hudson, WI which is just 10 minutes from me.
I wonder if it is to late to contact them and see if maybe we can do a short demo with them??? Maybe midgaar and thanson2001ok and my son would
volunteer to help out...... There are many times the kites fly and the balloons don't.
There is also the Color the Wind Kite Festival at Clear Lake in Iowa this winter.....
I think if we look around there would be lots of opportunity to introduce people to our sport and show them how green it is.
I would much rather head out with a kite than a noisy snowmobile...... not much thrill there....
Has anyone ever taken an add out in the local paper to recruit flying space from local land owners in the winter?
Around my area there are right of ways set up for the snowmobiler's to cross peoples land and people seem very tolerant of that. I am thinking they
would be more tolerant of kiters as the kites emit no noise or noxious fumes.......shehatesmyhobbies - 7-12-2011 at 07:11 PM
Kite festivals, hot air balloon affairs, sounds like you have plenty of opportunity for recruiting new fliers, NAPKA members.
I will have to email Morrie about the age thing, I don't recall seeing one, but would like to check before I give an answer.
We go to the local schools here and show the grade school kids what we do, show videos, all the different kites, take them outside and watch us fly
and actually buggy when the wind is right.
We also started attending the "Family Day" events at our local County parks! They loved it when we were there last fall. Huge set up with Two laptops
going non stop! Banners, Flags, Buggies, ATB's, Kiteboard's! One totally pimped out Mazda (Thanks Todd) It was a blast! You are well on your way to
being an ambassador to the sport!
One thing is for sure, the more the merrier!
Now make them plans for the Spring WBB would ya! tridude - 7-12-2011 at 07:12 PM

nice thought......bit like a hunting club renting land during the season.......forum member seconwind had success in obtaining farm landto fly on in
IA/NE when he was living in the states. I believe he actually canvassed local farms, briefed farmers on our activity, and gained
access.................
Dino has done much the same at his sod farm in Nor Cal as well as Pokite and Mgatc here in South Cack............shehatesmyhobbies - 21-12-2011 at 04:50 AM
I hope everyone has remembered to get your votes in!kitemaker4 - 21-12-2011 at 02:56 PM
I am taking votes till the end of the year.
Susan (npw goddess)Taper123 - 22-12-2011 at 08:29 PM
I used to be a member in one of the most active racing areas of the NAPKA. Some great races, some barely over 20mph and some with speeds near
45mph... always a blast when you get people together with similar interest in buggying.
