very cool...... I wish there was a way to get an ice screw in the frozen tundra so I could try that...... I am still trying to come up with
something that will work in the frozen soil....
in one field I just got permission to fly in there are several large boulders on one edge.... I am thinking of hammer drilling in one of the boulders
and placing an anchor bolt to a mountaineering anchor with a short chain so I can hook up a Carabiner to it to secure my kites on launch..... or when
I need a break......
do you have any close ups of the kite on your self launch from taco position??? I was trying to make out what you had on the wing tips and how you
had that set up......

I was wondering if that was a launch option but was afraid to ask. My scorpions seemed to need a bit of attention to bring them up but a ghost launch
was definatly on my list of "will this work"

If the wind is smooth and not too agressive they all ghost launch just fine. G1-V2 seem to be the best because of the level of stability those kites
possess. I've never tried a Phantom or Scorp but I bet they do fine.
Obviously the F-Arcs do okay. The Chargers move a round a bit more at the zenith, as they would when you're attached, but tend not to fall out of the
sky. Phantom 2 works much like V2 AZ.
For clamshell launch I'll use snow or dead weight to keep the wingtips together sometimes but if the wind isn't raging most of the time the tips have
a tendency to stay together until you yank the front lines. Part of it is placement relative to the wind. Not sure how to explain that part. Might
have to draw it.

I used to launch my scorpion like that a lot the first year I owned it. Snowkiting in a field, I would tether the chicken loop to the hitch of my SUV.
Trim all the way in and just lift the upwind wingtip and it would start to rise. Full inflation was the key to success with the Scorpion. You can land
the same way by tethering it and then walking (running) up an outside line towards the kite pulling it to the ground. (Wear gloves when handling the
lines so you don't get cut.) Grab the wingtip and flag the kite out once there. I think one day I'll regret getting rid of that kite, such an amazing
machine.

I used to launch my arcs the same exact way on the lakes around here untill my Synergy let loose one time. Inserted ice screw, hooked caribiner to
chicken loop, launched the Synergy and when it got to zenith it just kept going. :wee: It landed about 100 yards down wind in a field of cattails.
What a mess that was! No damage done, but what a PITA to get all the lines untangled from the weeds while cattail fluff is blowing all over the
place. Lesson learned: Never use those cheapo fake caribiners to hold loads like that, it straightened it right out in a split second.
