Are air pumps worth getting to launch arcs in light winds?
I have an oppurtunity to grab a Coleman Rechargeable Quickpump for $20.
I'm just wondering if it's necessary, and if that pump works well?
I've launched several times in very light winds.. maybe 1/3 inflation.. very sketchy.
I'm sure I'll get better with time, but what are your opinions?
In my mind when I imagine setting up in light winds - yes. I think if a PC fan works, then any fan will. I'm sure I've seen that one around on here

Yes, there's quite a thread about this and other pump solutions. Your Charger has a lower aspect than, say, Phantoms or Scorpions - both of which can
be more frustration to launch under-inflated than you arc.
The Coleman could also be use to pre-fill you pumpy kites. You'd only need a few final strokes from the hand pump to fully inflate it.indigo_wolf - 12-12-2011 at 06:51 PM

Depends on how much volume that thing moves Samm. My Black n Decker will inflate a 13m Arc fully in about 25 seconds.
Worth the investment if you live where the winds are dodgy and you'd rather be riding than waiting for the wind to inflate it. Single charge will
inflate 3- 19m Arcs 1- 12m and a 10m (slowly at that point).
It can take a hit too. Dropped on the ice ( alot) in freezing temps and she hasn't even cracked. Had ours for about 5 yrs.

I use 18v Makita blower ..... expensive option , but is in my work toolbox anyhow .......

I bought a Ryobi 18v cordless blower for under $50 IIRC. I already had batteries for my drill and flashlight. It looks much like the Black &
Decker. I'll be happy if it blows up a medium arc in less than a minute. I haven't needed to use it yet since I got it. Report at 11. Should have
video to go with it as well when the time comes.
