It will be dark for both low tides this weekend at Long Beach, so my local spot is out.
Anyone know of a good place to ride within about an hour of NYC that has a favorable forecast for this weekend?ragden - 15-12-2011 at 11:10 AM
So... Wildwood isnt a bad call. Might be a little out of your driving distance, but off-shore winds means that tides are not as big of an issue down
there. Granted, you will still get better riding when the tide is low, but the wind will be blowing the tide farther out than normal. If I didnt
already have plans, I might consider heading down for the weekend... forecast looks like fun... MikeDobbs - 15-12-2011 at 06:01 PM
Thanks ragden- Sadly WW is a bit far for a daytrip at 4 1/2 hrs door to door-
I'm hoping someone will chime in with an awesome spot a little closer that I never heard of : )martinipro - 15-12-2011 at 06:06 PM
I am actually considering a WW trip. For me it is only 2.5 hours though.MikeDobbs - 15-12-2011 at 06:20 PM
That's awesome Martin- hope you have good wind!martinipro - 15-12-2011 at 07:57 PM
I'd join you if we find a good spot! I'll be by LGA airport on sat.Jaymz - 15-12-2011 at 09:08 PM
Saturdays forecasted NW wind direction is onshore @ Keansburg Beach. But like Long Beach, the mid day hightide is a deal breaker Not much beach and all soft @ high-mid tide. 30 minutes drive and I'd
guess < 2 hour drive from L.I. Keep Keansburg in mind for N-W.
Might have to hit the local fields this weekend. I need a fix. Got skunked twice at IBSP, so No rides since WWBB martinipro - 22-12-2011 at 05:28 AM
It's too soon to be sure but forecast shows SSW at 14mph in Atlantic Beach for Sunday
EDIT: I was positive 25th was saturday. Nevermind martinipro - 27-1-2012 at 06:51 AM
Winds may be decent tomorrow (saturday) at Atlantic Beach(Long Island)
SSW Winds 1pm-6pm. 11-14mph.
Problem is tides, Low tide at 5:00pm. We should be able to ride starting around 2:30-3:00.
I'd even show up for a static session before then.
I've been out of the buggy way too long!
Any Takers?MikeDobbs - 27-1-2012 at 09:55 AM
Hey Martin- I'm jonesing for a session too. I've been watching the reports- doesn't look great, but there's potential. I may be up for an afternoon
session at LBmartinipro - 27-1-2012 at 10:27 AM
Keep me posted. Id totally be down.
SSW is not bad as long as it doesnt shift to SW.MikeDobbs - 27-1-2012 at 12:11 PM
Yeah Martin- forecast looking better and better. With Dead Low at 4:45 we should be able to ride from about 2PM on...

Haha tell me about it! Will do cheezy hope you get better soon so we can ride again!bobalooie57 - 27-1-2012 at 05:38 PM
If the forecast holds, it looks like I'll be buggying on the ice of Chaumont Bay. Didn't get any bike chain for the buggy wheels, so unless there's a
little crust, I prolly won't get much traction, but the video might be hilarious! :duh: You guys have fun on the L.I. Beach, and get well Cheezy, so
if and when we get snow on the hill, you can bring the boy up and have him show you(and me, too)how it's done!MikeDobbs - 27-1-2012 at 06:23 PM
Hope to see you out again real soon Cheezy- with a little luck the forecast will hold and we'll do some runs for you!MikeDobbs - 28-1-2012 at 08:44 AM
Hey all- so as of this morning the forecast looks good enough for me to head out. WeatherUndergroud and weather.com are both calling fro S/SW winds
around 13mph for the late afternoon. Low Tide is around 4:45, so we should have good riding from about 2PM on... sooner if you have bigger tires, or
the recent rain has compacted the sand for us.
Looks like Martin and I will be there between 1 and 2PM, and I think Kober may join in as well.MikeDobbs - 28-1-2012 at 05:31 PM
Thanks to Martin, Kristin, Martin's Roomate Aaron, Conrad, Rob and all the locals who joined us for a great day of bugging and landboarding today.
The weather far surpassed the forecast with winds blowing pretty steady between 18-22 all afternoon dead on-shore!
Put some real miles on the buggy today- and hit a new personal best of 26mph on a beam reach! :bigok:
I'll work to get some video up soon as I can- I'm sure Kober will be uploading some great footage as well. Can't wait to do it all again soon!Kober - 29-1-2012 at 08:53 PM
That was my best buggy season since last WBB....... and you right ,,,,, vid is coming soon, I am going thru the footage right now
