What is the Wind range of the PH18? how is its low end?

Chad - 16-12-2011 at 10:26 AM

Phantom

P6 -------------------------------XXXXXXXXXXXXXX
P9 -------------------------XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX-----
P12 ------------------XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX------------
P15 ------------XXXXXXXXXXXXXX-------------------
P18 -------XXXXXXXXXXX---------------------------
0 2 5 7 9 12 15 18 22 25 29 32 36 39 43 46 50 mph

BeamerBob - 16-12-2011 at 11:00 AM

From my experience that might be ambitious for land use on the 18 Phantom. It will let you buggy down to about 5 mph and feed off the apparent wind. I would get something else out after 13-15 mph.

Soma - 16-12-2011 at 11:05 AM

Yep!

Those wind range are weight dependent.
For my weight (60kg), it goes like this:

Quote:
P6 ---------------------XXXXXXXXXXXXXX----------
P9 ----------------XXXXXXXXXXXXX----------------
P12 -----------XXXXXXXXXXXX----------------------
P15 -----XXXXXXXXXXXX----------------------------
P18 ----XXXXXXX----------------------------------
...... 0 2 5 7 9 12 15 18 22 25 29 32 36 39 43 46 50 mph

martinipro - 16-12-2011 at 11:24 AM

That sounds more accurate. Now is 3mph realistic?

I am more interested in the bottom end rather than the top.
I'm looking for numbers on the buggy

van - 16-12-2011 at 11:53 AM

I can't use my phantom 15m until it's over 10mph and it doesn't perform until its over 15mph. The main problem is it won't launch at 5mph wind so I don't see how you can start buggying at 5mph.

shehatesmyhobbies - 16-12-2011 at 11:54 AM

I would say it is right about 5-8 mph. in steady winds. I guess if you could get it inflated in 4-5 mph you can get it in the air and work it. On a grass field I need at least 8mph. Tell you what though, get over that 10mph wind, hold on because you are getting ready to have a blast. I bought my 18m Phanny last winter, saved it just to take to JIBE, when I got there, it was basically the only kite I flew. The winds were anywhere from 8-15mph. Had a blast.

U2U sent - I'd take both for the Phanny alone - anyone want the Scorp (and/or a bar)?

PHREERIDER - 16-12-2011 at 01:24 PM

bar, after a look

thanson2001ok - 16-12-2011 at 03:27 PM

What a score. Great seller, too.

Bladerunner - 16-12-2011 at 05:55 PM

I am consistantly impressed with the bottom end of my 18m Phanny. It's still a depower and an arc so there is space for my 10.8 Reactor II before I go to it. I think 5mph is realistic on a smooth surface.
That top end of 27mph has to be for fat boys on water? NO WAY I would take it out in those winds! I haven't found the top end on mine but move down to my 15m and love it for 15mph winds and up. I would be amazed if I felt safe in wind gusting to much more than 20?

heliboy50 - 17-12-2011 at 12:19 AM

I need a p15. Low low end you would need a power inflator, I think. I filled my 18 for a photo shoot with no perceivable wind and when I tried to flip it over, it started to try to launch. Great seller, btw. Kid knows his arcs.

lad, I'd be interested in the Scorpion KO. u2u sent

lad - 17-12-2011 at 03:00 PM

Sorry guys...seems that the Scorp and bar are now getting parceled out to someone else.

PHREERIDER - 20-12-2011 at 09:38 AM

so the bar is not available

BeamerBob - 20-12-2011 at 10:30 AM

Phree, I had an 07 bar available but it got away before I realized you were wanting one. It's flying the friendly skies to Delaware right now.

Soma - 20-12-2011 at 10:45 AM

I guess a 65cm bar would be a perfect match to my Scorp 16m but after watching the speed that this things flew away, I'm guessing that I have to be 24/7 on the forum, :D

And on a side note, my wallet has been thinner by the minute,

snowspider - 20-12-2011 at 11:27 AM

Add me to the "want a bar" list , any bar with chicken loop will do.
