Having missed out on the last production run of sysmic rims, I was determined not to miss out this time so I stuck an order in as soon as it was
mentioned (last Jan, I think!). They finally arrived a few days ago and I was glad to get my crappy $18 plastic wheels off the buggy and put some
proper bling on it! Made up a 20mm axle for the front and took it down to the local beach (local is 2hrs drive away). Torquay (1hr South West of
Melbourne) is a lovely flat and wide beach and about 4km or so long - usually it is very busy and you wouldn't buggy there during holidays. But I
struck it on a very quiet day, with a very low tide and an onshore wind and had 3 hours of very pleasant cruising.
I liked the fact that Beamer Bob's video didn't have music on it and you could hear the sounds of the kite and wind....so I left the music off mine,
too. Hero HD on the stick and HD 2 on the helmet and short handle.

I read where you're a fan of the Turbo Bar, looks pretty smooth sailing once you get going.martinipro - 22-12-2011 at 07:33 AM
Nice wheels!
Also, damn that Method is fast turning on the Turbo bar. My 6.5m is not nearly as fast turning on the bar.WELDNGOD - 22-12-2011 at 08:13 AM

Looks like a great day! Nice looking wheels for sure! Thanks for sharing, John.snowspider - 22-12-2011 at 11:11 AM
To paraphrase myself... Bling is almost always better. Cool beaners.cheezycheese - 22-12-2011 at 11:27 AM
Talk about clean on-shore wind... :bigok: really like the silent video. The sound of the ocean and your tires is enough... To quote a friend of mine,
you can just about "close your eyes and feel it..."shehatesmyhobbies - 22-12-2011 at 11:30 AM
Cheezy, that is still so funny!
John, great beach, sweet ride, awesome wheels!
It was definitely worth the 2 hour drive!John Holgate - 22-12-2011 at 01:38 PM
Thanks guys! I don't often get the chance to use Torquay beach - it's normally pretty full of people and the wind is often in slightly the wrong
direction. Struck it lucky on the day - that's pretty much as good as it gets there. I'm usually 10min down the road at 13th beach which is a lot
quieter but much narrower too.
Method's are very nice on the turbo bar - maybe just a tad too much brake input when turning on the bar but not bad. The trick is that when you're
static flying and send the kite high for a little jump, don't pull the bar in - you'll just stall the kite and end up sitting on your bum - something
I do a bit for the first few times before I remember it's not a depower kite! Once up to speed in the bug you can grab a real handful of brake if you
want some more grunt. I mainly use the bar simply because I'm more comfy flying one handed with it so I can film with the other.
Gonna sort out a set of bigfoots for next year and perhaps bend up
some custom narrower side rails.......pyro22487 - 22-12-2011 at 02:33 PM
i fly my ozone 5m flow on a normal bar. i find it fun to fly one handed or no handed. now for turning on the normal bar my flow is slow take it to the
top of the window if your going to attempt a down turn. that method of yours turns real quick. thanks for sharing the video. great beach by the way.BeamerBob - 23-12-2011 at 09:26 AM
Well I didn't put music on mine because I haven't figured it out yet. But watching your vid I liked hearing the sounds of the wind better too. Maybe
this is a new trend.
Oh, and nice wheels. I have a set of those on the Hero and want to add a set on the Apexx. Guaranteed an extra 3mph! :P
