Looking for someone.

Hey, anyone know of any kite dealers in the Perth Ontario area?

Thanks in advance,
Chris

Are you looking for a kite store that carries a particular manufacturer on their line card or just some place that sells traction kites?

No, I'm trying to nail down some jerk on Ebay who is using one of my images to sell a used Charger. First time listing on Ebay and he uses one of my images. No credit, no disclaimer stating that the image he's using isn't of the actual item etc.

I asked him to pull it and he gave me the gears about how he's an authorised PL dealer and he has the rights to use it as promo material. But it is not an image I gave Peter Lynn rights to and there aren't any dealers in Perth.

I'm pretty sure I know who it is now and he's not in Perth.

You should have seen the response he sent me when I asked him to pull it. Whining and F-bombs. Smacked of an entitled punk caught with his hand in the cookie jar.

I tried to be resonable.

I think I saw the image you're talking about!

Felt awkward to see a charger laying on the ice on the trailing edge with the navigator in first plane and not hearing that YOU were the seller since I didn't saw any mention of it here.

That picture really as your face all over it, ;)

Not the first time I hear/see a kite being sold on ebay showing different pictures of the real item.

That's real lame...

Yeah I saw that post I was wondering if it was yours. Since you are selling a 10M charger also.

I would contact ebay the may pull it for you. You can tell them you own the rights to that image. Technically you can sue them for hosting the image that you(the rights owner) gave no permission for.

No one in Perth listed on the PL Dealer/School Locater or the Candian Wind Rider site.

If you haven't already, you might direct the seller to eBay's Image and Text Policy.

As you have already tried to be polite and diplomatic, if he still won't pull the image, just yank the leash and report the listing.

Optionally, go to the listing and click the link to "Ask the seller a question" and ask why he is stealing images. I believe those questions and responses are displayed as part of the listing. Forgive the snarkiness of the notion. :saint:

Fair amount of hutzpah to be without an inkling of remorse considering it is his first and only sale/transaction on that eBay id.

Well the listing is over so I guess at this point it's moot.

Seriously I don't have a problem with people using my images as long as there is something noting the origin or the image. Seriously if he just asked before hand I probably would have just let it go. Even if he just apologized and just editted his listing, noting that it wasn't an image of the actual kite. My "smarter half" on the other hand is not a laid back, she was actually P'd off that someone was using one of my photos to sell on the Bay.

I'm all for "fair use" but using someone else's image for profit or commercial purposes is just outright wrong.

Anyway he's good and ticked off at me now and apparently I'm the bad guy for wanting him to use a different image. And apparently I'm not welcome north of the border anymore either.:dunno: Sux, I have some good friends up there.

What a time suck that was.

Welcome or not, just choose your travel companions wisely and you should be fine.

Yeah, at first I was suprised that you had a charger up for sale on flea bay, but with a second look I knew something wasn't right when I seen it was from canada. Same picture from an earlier post you had here so I just figured you gave permission to the guy to use it. Some people have the gall to think they may use whatever they want to benefit themselves. Whatever happened to common curtesy these days.

Seems like the Post is back.

Seems like the pic of a rasta themed synergy.
