Kite Buggy Speed Shop

jellis - 29-12-2011 at 01:47 AM

KBSS will close it's doors in January of 2012. I want to thank all the friends that have supported my shop since 1997. It has just gotten too busy and is taking up way too much time for a retired guy who just wants to buggy.
Best Regards
Jon Ellis

I always cringe a bit when a small business closes up.

In your case, Happy Retirement.
I know of others here (locally) who would like to do the same, so enjoy it.

Should I read anything into the post being placed in the “For Sale” section?

pyro22487 - 29-12-2011 at 07:47 AM

I dont believe it wow. I thought you would never retire im going to have to move your contact info on my phone from kite shop to just retired old guys. LOL just kidding kite shop isn't a list on my phone.

No one believes you and a lot of folks have probably mentally thrown down the BS flag.

@Jon
Bittersweet to hear about the store. Sad to see it go, but glad for you if it gives you more time in the wind.

ATB,
Sam

Bladerunner - 29-12-2011 at 09:26 AM

Happy that you are leaving on a high note Jon.
Enjoy the full retirement !

I just wonder who folks can go to for knowledge and product from Libre now ?

:bigok:

kitemaker4 - 29-12-2011 at 09:32 AM

Good luck in your retirement. Is there going to be anyone in the states that we can get Libre parts from now.

Jon has bigger plans ... ;)

bobsalinas - 29-12-2011 at 12:44 PM

Hey Ricardo, I just talked to a guy(Frank) who builds disc wheels.
Apparently there is a desire for 26" over in Europe and he is still going to build 20"
Only problem is bearing size is 5/8" inner or axle. He told me he could produce a 42mm OD hub
and then you could use a 42X20 bearing. I am buying a set of discs from him and will have them on my new bug
at NABX.

jellis - 29-12-2011 at 02:15 PM

Thanks for all the kind thoughts! As some of you know I like to tinker with changes or new designs. Van this is partly your fault as i have got to know you and watch your excitement as you creations came to life it sparked a fire under me to do what I like best. I am looking forward to designing a buggy right here at Sunset Beach, walk to the beach try it and return to modify it until I am satisfied with the buggy. No I do not plan on producing them although Bison, Jim, Frank, and Eli will say different. LOL
No KBSS is not for sale, just closing it.
I will be in contact with the team at Libre and will continue to offer support for their products. Hopefully I will be able to help Libre will come to a decision on a source for their great products in North America.
Thanks again for everyone's support.
Jon

nocando - 29-12-2011 at 04:22 PM

Hey Jon have lots of fun being a grey powered gypsy.

Best Wishes from down here.

snowspider - 29-12-2011 at 05:45 PM

jellis its a pretty sweet deal having a testing ground next to where you live , it improves the creative process exponentialy , very cool , have fun.

van - 29-12-2011 at 08:13 PM

Jon .. you won't have any time to test your buggy .. I should know. As soon as you finish building one design, you will have an idea for the second one and never get around to even testing the first ... it's very addictive!!! Good luck with your builds :D . Let me know how your new bender works. Planning to upgrade mine as soon as I get some tax money back.

sand flea - 29-12-2011 at 09:18 PM

I LOVE KBSS

Thank you Jon, [slightly struggling here] for giving me what I have always dreamed, riding the oceans edge under the power of my kite.
I am very excited for your upcoming projects and know you will be successful and am looking forward to being one of your first customers.
Thank you Jon,
Chris

Bladerunner - 31-12-2011 at 11:59 AM

I may be missing something here?

How will people buy Libre products in North America? Was KBSS not the single source fo Libre ?

Did my KBSS clock just go up in value? ;)

jellis - 31-12-2011 at 01:09 PM
