PKD Handles w/ adjustable brakes

WELDNGOD - 16-1-2012 at 08:06 AM

Lad , here are the PKD handles I told you about .I absolutely love them! I can't believe how simple it is too. It makes it easy to use 1 set of handles for multiple kites. And you can dial in the "sweet spot", for the touch of brake turbo,so you don't have to hold it.

when you get good at using the PKDchucks, I want to see the video.:P

lots of the team riders for PKD use the Large size on all there kites. I use the small for sizes up to 6.5, then I use the mediums up to 12.5. Then the large after that.

these have been around for donkey years, is this the first time you guys see them? Problems I found with these handles are the strop that come attached, some are way to short

I can order them with longer strops, if you need. Just let me know how much between the handles.
I found when I flew the 12m Blaze the strop had to be at least 48 inches long to get the thing to turn, maybe you can try the Combat with the PKD handles and the short strop, works for me.

kiteboyza - 18-1-2012 at 07:24 AM

have flown Combats and like them...short strop for short arms....lol

WELDNGOD - 18-1-2012 at 09:00 AM

I was thinking about cutting and knotting the strop ends,so I could attach whatever strop I wanted. I tend to fly by brakes ,so the length isn't quite as important to me. I would like it to be replaceable though, for when it gets worn out.

My Broozas all have those type of handles. Yes, the strops are way short. I just snipped it and saved about 4" at each handle. I use those tails to tie a replaceable strop in with a sheet bend. You lose and inch or so of strop at each handle from the sheet bend.

The v notch cleats grip hard leader line OK. I find softer or slicker line can fall out of the notch - not good.
