I hereby ban all audio from being dubbed onto kite related YouTube videos. If such crimes occur within the kite related community such actions and all
people related to the incident will be dealt with appropriately.cheezycheese - 16-1-2012 at 02:06 PM

Well since I am the official Kite Officer of YouTube videos I attain all rights and privileges to not allow/not allow the modification of kite-stoke.Todd - 16-1-2012 at 06:05 PM

Thats the reason I never listen to music when I ride. I love hearing the tires, lines, kite and the wind itself. I haven't added music to my videos
for this very reason...................... and well........... because I haven't figured out the software that far yet. :P:saint:BeamerBob - 16-1-2012 at 06:09 PM
Now them thar is some singin lines. Can I get an amen from my southern brothers?bobalooie57 - 16-1-2012 at 06:14 PM
Man, I remember loving that video the first time around! Thanks for the re-post, Todd. I like the singing lines, but think the music is great, too,
and is easier on the ears over a few minutes.Todd - 16-1-2012 at 06:15 PM
Amen. Currently just a tad bit north of the southern brothers.BeamerBob - 16-1-2012 at 06:18 PM

Todd you count since you've been around the horn a time or 2. I find myself thinking about music to go with videos and actually setting up a script
to go along with the music. So far I'm just clipping and posting and feeling proud to pull it off.shaggs2riches - 16-1-2012 at 06:26 PM
I'm pretty sure no one wants to hear my unedited kiting videos. It either consists of me singing (errr butchering good 60s,70s and 80s music) or
cursing for living in a spot with crappy winds. Yep I'm sure the music is much better. :P PHREERIDER - 16-1-2012 at 06:40 PM
amen , giving me a stoke stroke!Todd - 16-1-2012 at 06:46 PM

I don't think that it should be a matter of one or the other.
While there is certainly a case to be made for au-natural.... video has limitatons. It can't convey the ripple of the wind against a loose T-shirt on
a sun-dappled day, the way the wind ruffles your gloves which loosens along the back when you grip hard or the way it feel when the hair (long or
short) flutters across the nape of your neck.
With that medium imposed gap between live and "Memorex", I am not averse to music, especially when it adds to the emotion or mood of the video.
Some notables include:
YMMVW....

That's why I pay 60 bucks a yr. to Vimeo. Here is one of my boring vids, check out the sound at the beginning and the last 1:30 of the vid when there
is NO song.
Yep with the WG man Vimeo rocks!shaggs2riches - 16-1-2012 at 07:59 PM
Might I add that having music added to a video helps to limit the time of said video. At least for me it does. I used to just cut in clip after clip
till I had like a ten minute video of the same thing over and over. Now I start with a few songs in mind and then try to fit the best shots in that
time frame. Trouble I still have is that I suck and my videos still don't make me look any better lolTodd - 16-1-2012 at 08:26 PM

its been many years of course, but i think i remember seeing nora in a smoky blues bar in chicago..... she had a wonderful
voice in addition to her superior piano skills..... every "meow" had this silky smooth tone.....airwombat - 18-1-2012 at 07:54 PM
This conversation will be (more) irrelevant if SOPA/PIPA are passed.
If Corporate America finds you've put a song they own on your kiting video, you can kiss your website goodbye!:shocked2::shocked2:WELDNGOD - 18-1-2012 at 08:55 PM

currently pondering this element....pleas help me. here's the picture...
i currently have transitioned into video logging style sail log. its my personal record, that happens to have music that i purchased as audio track,
some in total, some in part. its an educational feedback system for myself and shared with those who choose to view. before the Vlog style sail
log, i posted here(pkf) as a sail log( wind data, gear, experience) mostly written in something like english AND all while doing the sailing and
writing, i listen to the same music, NOW that the music is ACTUALLY in the logging elements, i purchased the music and all who draw compensation
have been remunerated. what has changed?
a good example of this is a session wake boarding with video, on the boat music is playing and visual and audio all recorded. the vlog represent my
personal time ACTUALLY using the music in experience.....and those interested in referring to my "experience vlog" get the experience /message in
total.
is this not why i purchased the music in first place?
experience enhancement, yes.
good thread here ...BTW there is choice to have audio audible.
no argument here, just want to know where my personal experience conveyance is encroaching ....on music i purchased.
i guess recording personal events(what i think i am doing) and PUBLISHING(i think that intent has $ gain in there) is the real question.airwombat - 19-1-2012 at 04:43 PM
I think that's a very valid point, and your guess is as good as anyone else's.
I reckon if they wanted to be dicks about it, their ownership of the copyright trumps your purchase (as this allows personal use only I think), and
even if it's in the background as you film, you're still technically broadcasting?
Even if industry turned a blind eye to it as background music, I read somwhere that the laws are trying to make host sites responsible for their
content, so they in turn might get twitchy about your background music. Why risk having your site shut down for someone else's content?
Sorry, that hasn't really added anything to the discussion, and i'd be keen to hear from anyone who knew a bit more about this too.....Kamikuza - 19-1-2012 at 05:53 PM
If it gets through, it turns every blog/vlog/web storage provider into a web sheriff on behalf of the corporate #@%$#!s - or else the provider'll get
screwed over. Nice!
Already in NZ there's copyright laws in place - pushed through government channels because of the state of emergency in earthquake ravaged
Christchurch city no I don't see the connection between restoring power,
water, sewerage and the illegal downloading of .mp3's either.
Basically, you don't even have to be proven guilty of copyright infringement - merely being accused 3 time is enough to land you in
jail :ticking:
As phree says - and this has pissed me off about DRM for many years - I purchased the right to use the product; why can't I use it how I want?
It'd be like buying a book that you can't read except in your living room... PHREERIDER - 19-1-2012 at 06:15 PM
the music is purchased for enhancing MY life's moments and appreciation to the artist....and this is an place for education about our recreation.
experiential learning is how its done, my experience comes with a soundtrack!(which also enhances learning channels in some)
