Hey PKF... i know politics is always a touchy subject here... hey we are about kites and friends after all, not really anything else. However, this
being a gathering place based on the internet, and a place that circulates tons of videos.... this becomes a relavent topic.
SOPA/PIPA
In case you havent heard, these US based bills will change the internet... probably for the worse, in many different ways. The aim is to stop the
sharing of copyrighted/illegal information, but it is so poorly worded, that it leaves vast amounts of gray area for businesses and the government to
exploit, and twist to meet their goals. Anyway... im not here to preach... just spread some information. If you are a redditor, a /b/rother, or a
wiki editor, im sure you know about this at length... but if you arent the web surfer, like my wife for example, you may not have heard about this at
all... the news stations dont seem to want to talk about it much.
so all i ask, is check out this vid that explains the bills better than me... and if it bugs you, send an email... if not, thanks for reading this
I really dont want to start a political debate... this is just something that will affect PKF, Vimeo, YouTube, Flickr... all sites we use to spread
the love of our sport... and i'd hate to see some of us get burned because of this...
Good winds my friends!

Sandy and I were just discussing this same issue this morning and at lunch as well. It is very scary. Talk to your elected officials and get it
changed or not allowed all together.pyro22487 - 18-1-2012 at 12:17 PM
Finally a video explaining it. I read the bills but I am no lawyer and couldn't understand it.Drewculous - 18-1-2012 at 12:17 PM
ive sent several emails... the first round of these hearings i sent 2, state and federal reps... and sent a few more this morning... it just bugs
me... this is so important... basic freedoms are at stake, and no news will cover it.
CSPAN DOES,
CSPAN ROCKS!!
"please yield sir!"
(one of the most repeated lines from the first round of hearings a month or so ago)
"now, im not a nerd, but...."
(the MOST used phrase of the first round of hearings)

Translation.... "I don't know what the heck this means, but if it means more election dollars I'm all for it."
A better use of their time would be harsher laws against (and more aggressive enforcement)

P.S. SOPA/PIPA are Googles logo link of the day and is always important enough to warrant a redirect when you visit Wikipedia today.awindofchange - 18-1-2012 at 07:03 PM
SOPA/PIPA is a very serious threat to everyone's freedom. Giving the government ANY form of control regarding this is like opening the barn door to
the hen house to a bunch of hungry wolves. They claim they will not abuse the powers that this gives, but it really has NO BOUNDARIES! This type of
power to the whoever they decide is in charge of it could shut down this very forum or any other website they desired. They will be able to control
everything or anything that happens to be out there. Valuable information regarding our very lives could be blocked and kept from us at the will of a
small group of politicians who will then decide if "we deserve to know".
EVERYONE needs to be aware of what these laws are about - and needs to strongly voice your opinions to your local senators and representatives.
I too always try to stay out of politics - but these two bills are very scary and threaten the very foundation that this great country was founded on.
If you don't know about this, you need to!!!!!shaggs2riches - 18-1-2012 at 09:41 PM
This is scary stuff if it passes, then how long before it is pushed into other countries???? Its just a matter of time, the true footwork to a very
controlled state. Stuff like this is what breeds very angry citizens. Not the way I want mine and my children's future to be. We have very free
nations lets keep it that way.WELDNGOD - 18-1-2012 at 10:07 PM
