Hi,
I was out yesterday trying the Yakuza 7m racekite. It's a different beast compared to the depower foils I am used to. It's amazing how much it pulls at high speed - also upwards!

The ice blades are high in order to break through snow walls. They generally work fine, but I noticed yesterday that they don't break through all snow walls... :rolleyes:

I also figured they would have cut through a little better! I have seen blades similar to yours before. I wish I had lakes that would freeze solid enough to have a set for my buggy!

So now...after all this time this winter without snow I'm wondering why I've never been keen on this until now. Time for some research on blades for my XR. Feel free to point me in the right direction here. Thanks for the post - got me off my duff here.

I know some places in Europe where you can order ice blades, but I don't know what's available in North America. Try to get in touch with ice boating clubs/communities; those guys know a lot about ice blades.

It is really a lot of fun! I got myself an icebuggy because I live in a place where we usually have ice but not too much snow during winter. I used to travel to other places in Sweden to get snow for snowkiting, but now I have the option to snowkite when we have enough snow here, and icekite when we have less snow. This is by the way how the surface can look when the snow on the ice has melted due to mild weather and then frozen after some cold nights:

Looked like another wicked good time!! Have you ever bent a blade with heavy side loads? Thanks for sharing, that was awesome!

There's no risk of bending the blades. They are made of 6 mm (0.24 inches) stainless steel which makes them extremely durable. Each of them weigh 8 kg (17.6 lbs), adding a total of 24 kg (53 lbs) to the buggy weight.

WOW, that IS some heavy duty ice blades! Sounds rather spendy unless you can make them yourself.

I have to say nice job on the videos.....I'm just venturing into the video aspect of things and can now really appreciate the work that goes into making them.
