so it looks as though i have the 19SA2 sold.
never sold anything before non-locally.
never heard of emt before either but buyer did mention it a few days back as the prefered form of payment as not to get dinged PP fees.
i received an email stating a sum of money is ready to be deposited into a bank account of my choosing.
buyer stated (seems like a pretty decent fella) he will provide password and extra $$$ to cover shipping once i get him the shipping charge amounts.
does it all comes down to trust? one of us has to bite the bullet and hope for the best? either the seller(me) ships and then gets password to unlock
funds or buyer unlocks funds then gets the product shipped.
what are safeguard, if any, when using emt?
Thanks,
Paul

I have never heard of EMT but I would really not do it. Don't know how much money your talking about but PayPal is safe maybe not perfect but safe.
Sending bank info in an email is broadcast to the world.
Your the one who would pay the fees and the piece of mind is worth it. There are a lot of really good scam artist out there.
I am sure there are people on this site that have a lot more experience with web transactions than me hope they chime in but my two cents is DON"T DO
IT.

I was just discussing money transfers and it works great but never tried it going international just local in Canada. You need to have online banking
and then it's an interact money transfer. You specify an amount to go to an email address and specify a password. The person sending the money then
says I'm sending you money via the interact email transfer and the password answer will be "silver"
You will get an email saying you have funds sent to you it will then ask (at least here in Canada) which banking institution you wish to transfer it
to - you select your bank, you log into your online banking, it says I have X amount for you, what is the password or answer to this question - then
you have the money and it's asking what account you would like to deposit it into if you have different accounts.
It's all done with online banking taking from one account and deposit to another so it's a good system as you are doing your secure online banking and
using interact.
Now there is the trust issue if it's a matter I've I'll send a password - did you get an email from that looks like this - if so the money has been
sent to you and is in holding waiting for you to pick it up when you log in and give the password - now there might be a way to stop that transfer,
never tried but at this point it's a trust:
PERSONS NAME <notify@payments.interac.ca>
PERSONS NAME has sent you an INTERAC e-Transfer (previously INTERAC Email Money Transfer).
Amount: $XXX.XX (CAD)
Sender's Message: Here you go.
Expiry Date: 22 Dec 2011
Action Required:

i did it once with a guy in russia !!!! he couldn't send paypal out from there and sending amoney order is
risky and takes to long..
so he sent me the total plus extra fro shipping at a western union near my place..
then emailed me the secret password.once i got the email saying money was there all i had to de is walk in
show my I D and give the pass word or key # what ever they call it..
took 1 day,the only flaw is he has fees to do this an it cost me a few bucks for the service..
thats international with a country that tends to make things complicated for them..still it went smooth.
once you have the money i sent the kite on it's way..
the best part is i crossed the border from canada to the USA to ship from there, cost was 57$ and the kite got there
in 4 days if i would have shipped from canada the cost was 190$ and the 7 to 10 week seervice !?!?!?!?!
as for bank direct transfer,,in my case it only works with certain banks, you have to ask your bank if they will accept this and ask the guy to make
sure he can do it on his end.
the good thing is he gives cash on his end and you get cash on yours, then you ship out..
steff

Done it many times - Accept the transfer, then check with your bank to be sure but I know with my outgoing EMTs I cannot send it if I don't have it
(the cash) sitting in the bank.
Congrats on the sale!

For what its worth EMT or EFT (Electronic Fund Transfer) is no different then exchanging cash. If it is not in the account, then they cannot send an
EMT. I have done US and CAD and would be confident in doing it again.
Russia or International, i would call my bank to verify the cash is in there first... but I doubt it would be required.
Paypal is good as it is safe, but it does cost a premium.

My biggest concern is hearing he will not release the password until you ship. what garantee is there of him ever releasing it...
If he gives you the PW and you transfer and not ship, he at least has tracking on him money and a course of action to get it back since they have your
bank account number etc... As it stands, he has no risk, you are assuming all of it..
I would want a number of references or something.. You can always point him here to establish your credibility and trustworthyness.
