4 months of flying all culminated into 10 seconds this morning. After 35 min on my Rush 300 static i walked from the grass to that way too small
parking lot w/ 5 cars in it.
Piloted between light stantions and trees grabed a longboard from the hatchback waited for the right moment.....
Shabang!!! about 75 yrds one way before i bailed running.
With kite overhead i left the board and backed out of the area safely and in tact. Can't get this grin off my face today.
Soon as i get home tonight all the tools come out of the car. Got to fill it w/ safty equipment now because finally i am in some way a
Kiteboarder!!!:cheezycheese - 8-3-2012 at 11:03 AM

Way to go man! Any pics?
If you want a little more room there are some nice parking lots over on Fire Island (Robert Moses area) you can ride in without light poles :tumble:
I've had some fun in Tobay parking lot too- off season that is.
Look forward to riding with you soon! (BTW- that's cheezy right above me, the guy I mentioned to you yesterday).
Hey Cheezy- abkayak lives in the next town over from LB- he's gonna join the crew. Time to start thinking about designs for our tatoos! :DMikeDobbs - 8-3-2012 at 11:52 AM
This has me reminiscing about my first rides- just so happens I have some video! This is my very first day trying to ride something while flying a
kite, and this is my first (and only) descent run without getting pulled off the board. It was the last run of the day and it was AWESOME! Been
hooked ever since.
That's our boy John Holgate in the background- for any who don't know in addition to being a kiter he's a pretty awesome musician to!snowspider - 8-3-2012 at 11:57 AM

I started out on rollerblades and tarmac after struggling in the water. What you are up to is very do-able. Helmet is a must you WILL fall back and
hit your head.MikeDobbs - 11-3-2012 at 06:02 PM
Hey all- abKayak met up with us at Long Beach for some good offshore winds this afternoon and got a second motion fix in a bug- check him out!
