3.5 here doing lakebed riding. I bounced between 5.5 and 7 when I was beach riding back east. Different winds and surfaces.

6.5 blade IV is my go to for static jumps and landboard, but with my light winds I'm often on the 8 and 12 ace for static jump sessions.

If I go looking for a fixed-bridle kite, it normally means the winds are too crazy for flying a flysurfer... That means its small... And since I do not own a kite that small, I normally try to borrow from someone else.

My favorite small kite is the 1.8 Flexifoil Rage. That is a FUN kite when the winds are nuking across the beach (i'd buy one but the times I go looking for one are so rare...).

10.8 Reactor II.

Any more wind and I am on an arc.

in my inland gust-o-fab-o two kites shared about 80% of buggy duties.
the 3m Beamer and the 12m Pulse2. i'd guess it's about 55%-45% mix.

It really changes for me. In summer the winds are lighter so I am on my 9.6m XXXL more often. Winter winds are higher so I move down to my 7.1m XXL or a depower. Spring and Fall are highest winds so I am on a depower most of the time or a 3m FB if I don't have time to spend setting up and packing up.

2.5 Flow ?!?! :puzzled:

Ozone Imps came in 2.5, but I was pretty sure Flows were sized 2m, 3m, 4m and 5m only.

Color me confuzzled. :o Going to put on some more coffee.

Sam

Doooh!

Thanks for the catch Sam- I meant 2.5m IMP
(Though I do love my 3m flow as well ):singing:

4 meter beamer since it's the only one I got at the moment.

lunchbox - 9-3-2012 at 09:40 PM

This winter the Vapor 16.1 and Reactor II 10.8 were my most popular kites.

With the Santa Ana's (strong N-NE winds), it's my Ozone Cult 3.5 on 40m lines.

With Spring it's anything from my 5m JoJo RM+, Yakuza 6.0m, 7.6-9.4 Vapors or Reactors 8.6-10.8.

AnnieO - 10-3-2012 at 11:01 AM

3.5 seems to be my go to kite size.
I enjoy flying static with no harness for a good workout.
Winds have to be pretty tame for my 5.6, I'm only 124lbs...
My favorite flying days though are always high wind with either a 2M or 2.5M. I enjoy these the best as I get both the pull and quickness of the smaller kites. Love those quick turning little kites! I just don't get as many high wind days as I would prefer.

Tibi - 10-3-2012 at 07:06 PM

3.5 Flexifoil Rage is my favorite.

soliver - 13-3-2012 at 10:28 PM

Well, I only have a 3m beamer and a 5m core,...

So I pretty much switch back and forth between 3m and 5m (LOL)...

In all seriousness though, I work hard to master the 5m, so I may fly it more than the 3m. Plus, here the winds are typically light (under 12mph) so the 5m is more fun... but the 3m is a bit more versatile, and I agree with Annie, there's a lot to be said for the whipping quickness of a smaller kite.

Kober - 13-3-2012 at 11:28 PM

So far looks like best size to buy is a 5m...... Ok then ...... looks thats what I be looking for ...

ripsessionkites - 14-3-2012 at 12:42 AM

5m is the mid range
