Small phantoms/venom/scorpion

martinipro - 10-3-2012 at 08:29 PM

Ok, go ahead... Laugh!

But. Serously looking for 6 & 9m phantoms.
Someone upgrading to phantom 2's willing to part with their originals?

martinipro - 11-3-2012 at 06:01 PM

Nothing!? I guess I'm not that surprised :(

Ok how about a Venom II 8m and a 6m Phantom!? Anyone?

flyjump - 11-3-2012 at 06:06 PM

Dylanj has a wanted ad for a 9m phantom since 2009 lol. It might be awhile. Maybe you can find a 7m scorpion? Not too many people know about that kite

Todd - 11-3-2012 at 06:07 PM

8m Venom I is an awesome ride and easy to find.

A 7m scorpion would work!

flyjump - 11-3-2012 at 06:25 PM

Maybe you can snag something when the new phantoms show up

Yeah I wish... Don't have the though now to drop on a new kite =/ but I really need a smaller kite for the gf. Last couple times she hasn't been able to ride bc of crazy winds...
I know I have the synergy but have been having some problems with it.... Soon to be decommissioned.

BeamerBob - 11-3-2012 at 06:44 PM

Is there something wrong with it or do you have trouble with bar/lines or technique? You have some gurus close to you that would love to help you out.

martinipro - 11-3-2012 at 06:51 PM

It's got at least 60 repairs...(none mine)

It still holds air fine but some of the seams(where the cross straps go through) are starting to lose threads. It's to the point where if I can't repair it ,myself, it's not worth it to send it to be repaired.

BeamerBob - 11-3-2012 at 06:58 PM

I think I bid on that kite. Ebay? If so you got it pretty cheap.

martinipro - 11-3-2012 at 07:10 PM

Got it pretty cheap yup but from someone Here on pkf.
Was flying great until one of the seam Stichings came lose. It seems like it is the strap causing friction. And noted it happened on both ends(both inflation zippers)

I've never seen one for sale, though these guys claim to have one new: http://www.extremekites.co.uk/Peter-Lynn-Scorpion---7m-p-462...

flyjump - 11-3-2012 at 07:41 PM

i've seen a couple of them go through here over the last two years. i think one of them sold for pretty cheap if i can remember correctly

dylanj423 - 11-3-2012 at 09:33 PM

i have an 8m synergy that i bought and have never flown.... one repair on the top of the canopy.... i just dont get the kind of wind that that puppy needs...

ill sell it KO for $300 shipped....

.... i gave up on the 9m phantom long ago...

martinipro - 12-3-2012 at 06:53 AM

Thanks for the offer Dylanj.
However I think IŽll pass on the Synergy in case I can get mine in working order. That way I have 2 different high wind kites.

martinipro - 12-3-2012 at 08:23 PM

So anyone? Small phantom venom or scorpion?

martinipro - 16-3-2012 at 10:30 AM

Bump! Still looking.

Sell your old arcs and get chargers/phantomIIs!

geokite - 16-3-2012 at 04:02 PM

After my experience with the 6m charger (terrible in the buggy to say the least), I'm waiting to test fly the P2 first. Rumor/word was that it would have one bridle for park and ride, and another bridle for everything else (my description from memory). Haven't heard if this came to pass in the production model. Haven't heard any reports of the production model. Haven't seen any real pictures of the kite, just digital drawings (from what I can tell)

Surprising the level of confidence some have that the P2 will be such a great kite for the buggy. Time will tell!

Hope there is a 6m at nabx to test fly, set up on a small bar to judge fairly.

FWIW: "Bartiebrat's" take on the 6m proto PII in a buggy at Kitecrowd:

"We also tried the 6m old & new back to back. I was really surprised at how even more stable the P2 was. Ive always considered the orginal 6m to be one of the most forgiving buggy engines out there; it's my 'when I'm injured & cant kite, sneaky kite' & what i put people on who've been buggying for a while but had their confidence knocked (aside from being an insane fun high gusty wind speed engine). I was worried any increase in turning speed would ruin it, but its fab & doesn't feel too fast at all. There's a newer proto being tested now, but having flown early protos they felt exactly how you'd improve the old phantoms but never knew it."
-------------------------------------------------
My first test, static fly of my new PI was very impressive. Fast, stable and surprisingly grunty in a lighter breeze.

pokitetrash - 23-5-2012 at 05:53 AM

I have two 7.5 M Phantoms! Buy my 15 and I'll cut in half for you for no extra cost . You'll be the only kid on the block with that size! :bouncing:

Drewculous - 23-5-2012 at 06:18 AM

flew the 9m p2 at jibe and it was pretty damn slick! save some bills! i may not be able to find a 6m p1, but i will get a 6 or 9m p2! (lotto lotto lotto lotto)

PHREERIDER - 23-5-2012 at 06:46 AM

i had go in a BUGGY at NABX with the PII 9m seemed all well matched.

lad - 23-5-2012 at 07:12 AM

I've had my Prototype 9m P1 out at WW the last two times - incredible range and utility, not to mention faster turning! :cool2:

geokite - 23-5-2012 at 01:19 PM

Got a 6m P2. Already took the pulley bridle off.

Will try it out in the buggy weekend after Memorial day, at the sprang thang.

Will report back!

BeamerBob - 23-5-2012 at 01:28 PM

Oh good, we can run them side by side and trade off to see the difference. I'm thinking no pulleys will be best for lakebed riding. I'll have a 12 with me also and possibly a 9 if it gets here in time.

martinipro - 23-5-2012 at 01:29 PM

Please do!
Also once you realize how awesome it is ship that old MK1 Phantom 6m to me! DIBS!

NJLandboarder - 11-6-2012 at 12:43 PM

I have a 10m venom for sale

erratic winds - 13-6-2012 at 07:14 PM

http://www.powerkiteforum.com/viewthread.php?tid=22572 8m syn for sale

g-force junkie - 13-6-2012 at 07:52 PM

Martinipro
I've got a 10 Scorp that I got from Goofball that has only two short flights on it and is as close to brand new as you can get.

martinipro - 14-6-2012 at 05:43 AM

THanks Guys.
@NJLandbaorder I do have a 10m Venom, looking for someting a bit smaller.
@Erratic I was really looking for an older arc Phantom/Venom/Scorpion
@G-Force I think that would overlap a lot with my 10 venom, a 7m would work though.
