It's not a spreader bar.

It looks like one of the larger (Series 40-70) Ronstan Orbit block.

Given the colors, it looks like one of the ratcheting ones.

Larger sizes definitely fall into the "spendy" category... the ratcheting ones, more so.

Adding a quick release would add to the $$$ factor. Not sure what, if anything, you would gain over the standard Holt Allen Block setup that's been mentions in a bunch of other threads:

the red balls on each side of the pulley is so the strop does not allow the knot of the strop into the pulley, can cause the strop to stick at the wrong time

The last time I sailed the Earth's crust was still cooling :sniff:, but I used to loving ripping on flatwater heeled over in a small 2 man sailboat.

I didn't really need to find it, it was floating around near the top of my head.

The weight reduction cut-outs on the outer edge of the Ronstan Orbits are fairly distinctive, and I remembered seeing them in the catalog last year.

I tend to read and remember strange things and I repurpose a variety of items for things they weren't originally designed for so there a mental list of odds and ends that are constantly flitting through my head.

glad to know i'm not alone....sometimes the phlit rate can be bewildering but things do match up nicely eventually you just have to be patient.
