Fast day at Anastasia

Katie and I went to St Augustine today and had a smokin' fast day. I traded between my 10m Scorpion and Dean's 9m Phantom (thanks for the loaner, Dean). Both were smoking fast, but for the last run I hooked the tandem up, put Katie in the back and we easily cracked 30 MPH flying under the Phantom in 18 MPH of wind. I really need a new GPS so I can say how much beyond 30 it was, but it was WILD. This was absolutely my PB for tandem.

We were approaching the narrow section at the north end where the beach starts to round off and Katie started asking questions about when we were going to turn around and how we were going to do it. We figured it out without incident, but I have to admit I wasn't sure until we did it.

Over 25 in a tandem is a LOT of fun! Good on ya Philip!

Nice job! Gotta know how fast you're going. Anastasia is a top 3 buggy spot for me. I'm still working on a tandem hookup.

The KISS principle applies here. Tim Elverston has the world's simplest design made of webbing and one Fastex clip. That and a sewing machine is all you need to make it. It's just a variant if the attach-the-front-wheel-bolt-to-the-rear-axle-hitch. This type transfers passenger weight to the pilot's rear axle---very useful.

I'll send a pic of my version of Tim's design tonight.
