not quite as satisfying as a hungry, stacked, 20 bidder, 2 sec. snatch on ebay, BUT somehow scoring GI parts in general warranted swift action.dandre - 13-3-2012 at 06:16 PM
ugh you guys have enough boards.
I'll be so happy when this kite-crisis is overindigo_wolf - 13-3-2012 at 06:23 PM

Didn't know you were looking for a board. Did I miss a WTB posting? :sniff: I must be slipping.

I assumed you had magic forum jedi powers at this point indigo.
"these ARE the boards you are looking for"
I didn't bother posting on here because the market is so much more inflated because of necessity. everyone expects 200 plus 70 shipping.
and I'm not paying a dime over 165 shipped for a decent model
you can get screaming deals on here but they only pop up once a week and are gone in... 5 minutestridude - 13-3-2012 at 07:57 PM
Dandre,
I have GI Flite Light, Tarantula wheels, Bionic composite trucks, new cubes (kite blue) near mint condition but it wont be cheap.................indigo_wolf - 13-3-2012 at 07:57 PM

Jedi powers all belong to the cat, whose newest trick is being able to levitate corn muffins off plates without line of sight ("periscope paws").

Might be able to find a decent model for that if it has some miles on it, but that strikes me as low for a board in VG-EX condition.
Components would price out more than that.
Not slamming on your target price, just know I couldn't cut a board loose for that cheap and pick up shipping without taking a healthy burn.
Makes more sense to hold onto the board for parts.
Only board I ever let go for for that cheap was a board that a retailer sold to me for cost because he was pulling mountain boards from his line card.
I wasn't looking to make a profit, and shipping was a non-issue because it was sold locally.

thats why I'm trying to keep it on the NE from craigslist
alot of people just don't kite and they drop mountainboards at yardsale prices instead of with the "alot of kiters will want this" mentality.dandre - 13-3-2012 at 08:08 PM
honestly most of the boards I'm looking at are mint condition older MBS/mongoose for 80-100 bucks
I really would rather buy from a PKF member who has an established reputation instead of potentially local craigslist sellers. But whatever, it's just
wood/ skateboard trucks and big tires.
I don't see why I should pay 270 for a well used board.
If I had gotten this one it prob would have only been 170-175 shipped from upper east coastindigo_wolf - 13-3-2012 at 09:34 PM

eBay and craigslist bear no resemblence to real life.
Sometimes that's a good thing and sometimes, it's not.
I have purchased minty fresh kites both at fair prices and at well, well below what I would consider a fair price. In the latter case, it was either
a case of someone wanting to dump gear that was just taking up space or they had got the gear from a kiter or former kiter and they were just looking
to recoup the time/cost of the listing.
On the other end of the spectrum, one of the retail stores recently underestimated the demand for a seasonal item. They sold out in a day or two, and
now if you go onto eBay, you can find it listing for 4+x it's retail cost. The first day it listed, the asking price was closer to 10x the retail,
but things seems to have leveled off.
Footnote: It's nice to see the Fading Fast EP has dropped out of triple digits. Alas, the cost of Tek-Loks seems to be holding
steady.
If you can grab something off eBay or craigslist for a steal, than have at it. I just don't think that's a fair barometer of value.
An all wood (maple) board is a different critter from a wood/composite or all composite board. ATB skate trucks are markedly different from channel
trucks. Rubber bushings will fade and die long before their polyurethane brethern.

I never, ever said that should be the cost for a "well used board." I said VG-EX (and toss in NIB for good measure). Boards of the
latter description have no rust on nuts/bolts or they have been replaced. Minimal or zero decks scuffs. No gouges. Good bite and no tears on the
grip tape. Little or no tire wear (moulding stubble, even better). Foam still tight on the bindings. No wear on the ladders. Nylock still in place
and holding tight. Little or no wear on grind plates.
The closer to NIB, the longer the buyer can ride without having to worry about replacements or upgrades. That really needs to be factored in.

Patience and Parcel Post always keeps postage at a minimum. Shipping anything the size and weight of a mountain board any other method for a member
to member transaction is just loony tunes. Parcel Post still allows for delivery confirmation & insurance. Definitely not one of those times you
want to pay the premium for instant gratification.
Like all things in life, YMMVW.
@Tridude: Really sorry for the thread veer. Mea culpa.

Are we talking about economics now? lol I just want something that rolls and I can fly around on.
Doesn't have to be pretty, but doesnt need to be crap either.
I don't mind replacing one or two bolts for a premium
Always appreciate talking about money thoughindigo_wolf - 14-3-2012 at 05:27 AM

Talking about economic? I don't think so.
Just pointing out that A poodle is not a wolf, even though both walk on four legs.
Just because you can get a below fair price on something, shouldn't mean that that is automagically the new "Blue Book" value for it. I used to
take issue with people pulling the prices on sold items before, but I can see their point of view now.
The actual components and condition of an item should determine the cost of something and not just that it had a previous owner.
Tridude's response is pretty much dead-on:

I would not expect him to let that go for the price of a well-worn AK103 on ATB Skate Trucks and Vegas Hubs, just because they both roll and both had
a previous owner. Apples and kumkauts.
