Wow it was so nice today! If only the wind stuck around a bit longer for me to get out of work. It was extremely light out when I did, but I was
ambitious and wanted to get the P15 out. Took a lot of patience to get it launched, but I finally did! Had to grab the Y connector and run like hell a
few times when the wind completely died and it tried to crash on me. But anyways, I was able to get going on the board a couple of times and go about
25-40 yards. I only had a football field to work with. Ive watched a ton of videos on landboarding, especially carltbs thread which I've watched all
those sooo many times. Is it much easier with more wind? I was only able to really go downwind and not back and forth with the sidewind. It just also
seems like a slight bit too much wind would be scary as hell, I guess my balance just isn't too great on that thing yet.

It gets a lot easier with a little more wind, but it's hard to say what would get easier first... Balance gets easier with more power in the kite to
lean against, but the board control needs to be good for that. Upwind just doesn't happen if there isn't enough wind. Were you taking a couple of
scoops out of the wind to get going for a bit? That's more dynamic that settling into something park n rideish, once that kicks in then balance is
pretty steady and the adjustments much smaller. A football field isn't much to be getting going on, pretty much when I get going on something that
short it's time to set up for a transition to riding the other direction.
That first go is great! Hang on for that first park n ride!

I know that feeling,
The first time I managed to stay on the board riding, I had a smile on my face the size of the world, :D
With more wind, you'll ride better but for starters, I think it's best to start with FBs (your Scout is a good engine for 8-15mph winds). The power
will be less and you'll probably have more time static flying with the FB than the ARCs which gives you the advantage of controlling it better.
After you have the feeling of the board, perfect your stance, fight the pull of the kite and (very important, know how to stop in a hurry), go ARC and
you'll see that you can move better.
Enjoy...

Well.. Okay I cut my story short a bit =P. I took the scout out first for like 15 mins, but I couldn't get much power on it. The only way itd move me
was to whip it across the window and then Id just get pulled face first over the board haha. There were a bunch of people out walking and watching me
while doing it so I wanted to promote it a bit more. Psh you wanna see a power kite! Probably needed more wind for the scout too then. How big is the
smallest field youd guys use? Oh yea I forgot this last night..but I was having some issues keeping my feet in the bindings, where id try to do a
little hop to correct where I'm going but Id lose footing easily and if i tightened the bindings I couldn't get my feet all the way in quite. How
tight do you do your bindings/how much of your toes are going out the other side of them?
PHREERIDER - 14-3-2012 at 08:20 AM
bindings should go across bridge of the foot, not too tight, you want to be able to hop out easily. your foot may need to be deeper into the binding
, a good should slam/kick(careful no violence!) into the strap should be firm.. heels can slide a little side to side and wiggle your toes is the
feel you should have. if things are IMMOBILE thats too tight your gonna break something. toe on the other side ...yes they should be evenly space
across the center line of the board. practice hoping in and out static for good body control and balance, and can move on to like 180's.
some straps like talons are more forefoot style but most can be angled to get good grip and release ...sort it BEFORE you go to the field .

Omni-
Field Size- maybe a football field but actually smaller- I have found when on a small field more wind is a whole lot easier bcause you can keep the
kite higher.
Falling on your face- Point more down wind to get started and then once rolling start edging the board upwind
Bindings- I started with them really lose so could get out easier and have now tightened up enough that when i lift my foot there is no play- alsoby
twisting yur foot in the binding a little you can "lock" your foot in place and untwist to dop the board. as for how far toes go in as much as
possible but i hav small sleds for feet.
And congrats on those first runs still remember mine andthat first feeling of apperant wind- AWESOME
keep it up, it gets easier and only more fun
