Forgive me Father, for I have pumped up my foil kite

joedy - 15-3-2012 at 02:34 PM

I inflated my new-to-me Flysurfer Speed3 19m deluxe with a leaf blower.

I'll NEVER doubt Kami's advice again when it comes to rolling up this kite. He warned me that it would take a while to get enough air out of it.

It took two roll up attempts before I got enough air out of it so I could fit it back into the backpack. It's giving me a warm and fuzzy feeling seeing how long the air stays in this kite; it makes me confident for my first water session.

In comparison, my Pulse 10m is a breeze to pack up.

I'm looking forward to taming this kite!

Congrats on new kite ..... let us know what was you first session like .....

When I pack my X19 it was a workout trying to roll it pushing air out when wind start blowing hard ,,,,,

Some blowers, like the Coleman mattress inflator, have a reverse switch! :-)

I am jelly. :) Yes please tell us about your first session. Hope you have fun.

Kamikuza - 15-3-2012 at 05:50 PM

Heh... take your time; roll a bit, wait for gravity to push out some, roll a bit more... have a wee meditate on your session in the meantime.

Enjoy the hang time :D

mougl - 15-3-2012 at 06:17 PM

That is one fine specimen of a kite! Congrats!

Gorgeous colorset. Tell us about your first session after you have it!

AD72 - 15-3-2012 at 06:42 PM

Best deflation technique is to open the zipper after kiting, drink a beer, talk about how epic the session was with the FS with your tube flying friends, and then roll it up.

Kamikuza - 15-3-2012 at 06:54 PM

The Speed3's have velcro deflation valves - noticeably slower to deflate

AD72 - 15-3-2012 at 06:58 PM

Ahhh. I stiill have a 2. Not as stylin as you guys.

Kamikuza - 15-3-2012 at 07:03 PM

It was a shock to me too - I thought the zippers worked fine :D especially for packing up!

SecondWind - 15-3-2012 at 08:18 PM

Just curious - how many velcro valves does the 19m SIII have? My 10m Unity has one in the center.

RedSky - 15-3-2012 at 09:39 PM

At least you had the sense to inflate yours outside the house.

Kamikuza - 15-3-2012 at 09:40 PM

BWAHAHAHAHAhahahahah that's the funniest thing I've seen for a long time - who did that??? :wee:

It looks like one of those play-doh machines, where you press the pump and the stuff oozes out the sides...:thumbup:

PHREERIDER - 16-3-2012 at 06:49 AM

nice, fresh looking gear!

Flyfish - 16-3-2012 at 06:53 AM

RedSky, can I be your friend?! Good one bro!

Bladerunner - 16-3-2012 at 06:55 AM

I had a very messed up bridle and used this method to assist in untangling it at home. The shop vac has an exhaust and I used it to fill it good!
The breakaway tabs made undoing the bridle a cinch ! Just another Flysurfer touch that has pleased me !
