Ozone Access 08 ?

dman - 16-3-2012 at 06:23 AM

How good of kite compared to say a HQ Apex 3 is the Access from 08. Have there been significant changes to the Access since this model. There is one for sale locally for a pretty good deal but I don't know much about this kite.

Haven't flown and Apex 3, so I can't compare. Angus or Kent might be able to give you some insight there.

As far as changes, '08 was the first year that the Access switched to the Megatron Chicken Loop, but they hadn't switched over to the Y-Line yet.

There have been incremental changes to the sail profile.

2010/11 saw the standard Ronstan pulley replaced with the Ronstan Orbits. 2010 was also when they added blow-out valves to the underside of the canopy to prevent blown cells in the event of a nosedown crash.

If you can find a fairly priced 2008 Access in good condition, it's still definitely worth jumping on.

I'll get some pics up as soon as I have it in my hands. I just needed a de power to get me through NABX as I have sold off most of my quiver and am not yet ready to pull the trigger on a new batch of kites.

All Access' are great kites IMO. I have 2 access XC's 6 and 8M and they work beautifully. Also had an older Access II 6M. All excellent kites. 300 bucks was a steal for RTF and like new.

I bumped into a fellow in Calgary this winter who has used his 8m Access as a one kite quiver for 3 full seasons of snowkiting and has no desire for another kite !

Sounds like he lacks creativity Blade. What self respecting kiter would limit himself to the monogamy of single kitehood? Sad, just sad.:wink2:

Canuck gave a few people a bit of surprise a week and a half ago when he did park-n-riding with his 8m Access. I was working the 12m speed2 and there were others on 19&21m speeds 3s. It'll prove to be a great kite. Just Sayin' :wink2:
