ok, so it's school concert time again and I can't help myself...
My Daughters school had their spring concert the other night. The entire 9th grade Orchestra performed the Empire Strikes Back. It was pretty darn
good (proud papa).
I will post that video but first is the Arlington High School Wind Ensemble. The piece they are performing is called:
"Tribal Quest" composed by Sean O'Loughlin
Before you watch this video, i want you to take into consideration that these kids only rehearsed as a group TWO
times. Due to the sheer size of the orchestra, the kids had to rehearse seperately in small groups all semester. They only came together to practice
two times as a complete group before the show. This is the 9th grade Wind Ensemble from the first video and 9th grade Symphony Strings. There are
approx. 140 kids/musicians on stage.
Now the Empire Strikes Back....
ok, so my youngest doesn't feel left out. Here is the Arlington Middle School orchestra. You can really hear the progression from here to the HS
students. These are 7th graders. The woman conducting is sister in-law to the woman conducting TESB. They are amazing music teachers and I am elated
that they have touched my kids lives.
here is Eleanor Rigby...
thanks for watching/listening.... I promise I wont do this again.....

WOW!!! Hard to believe those were kids playing that music! VERY impressive! Good to see a parent backing his kids in the arts.
A lot of parents here don't let their kids express themselves in a constructive way. Kudos!cheezycheese - 17-3-2012 at 05:55 PM

Good for you, and especially them. They're awesome, and I think everyone on here can appreciate these vids. That's why we have general chit chat. Tell
your kids were all proud of thembobalooie57 - 18-3-2012 at 08:43 AM
Gave me goosebumps. Great memories of when I played in the H.S. Band. Not nearly as talented, and half the size, but we still had fun!cheezycheese - 18-3-2012 at 10:03 AM
